Antiprotozoal activity of Senna racemosa
Journal of Ethnopharmacology, 2007Methanol extracts of leaves, roots and bark of Senna racemosa (Mill.) H.S. Irwin & Barneby (syn. Cassia racemosa Mill.) were tested for antiprotozooal activity against Giardia intestinalis and Entamoeba histolytica. All of the tested extracts showed good activity against both protozoa species.

Antiprotozoal activity of Neurolaena lobata
Phytotherapy Research, 2001AbstractExtracts, fractions and sesquiterpene lactones from Neurolaena lobata (L.) R. Br. (Asteraceae), a traditional medicinal plant from Guatemala, were tested in vitro against Leishmania spp. promastigotes, Trypanosoma cruzi trypomastigotes and epimastigotes and Trichomonas vaginalis trophozoites. The ethanol extract inhibited the parasite growth of

Antiprotozoal activities of symmetrical bishydroxamic acids
Bioorganic & Medicinal Chemistry, 2003Symmetrical bishydroxamic acids along with their sodium salts containing an alkyl spacer between two aromatic rings were synthesized, and their antiparasitic activities were evaluated. Bishydroxamic acids were conveniently prepared from the alkylation of methyl 4-hydroxybenzoate with various dihalo-alkane, -alkene, and -ether followed by reaction with ...

8,8-Dialkyldihydroberberines with Potent Antiprotozoal Activity
Journal of Natural Products, 2012Semisynthetic 8,8-dialkyldihydroberberines (8,8-DDBs) were found to possess mid- to low-nanomolar potency against Plasmodium falciparum blood-stage parasites, Leishmania donovani intracellular amastigotes, and Trypanosoma brucei brucei bloodstream forms.

Antiprotozoal activity of proton-pump inhibitors
Bioorganic & Medicinal Chemistry Letters, 2011Parasitic diseases are still a major health problem in developing countries. In our effort to find new antiparasitic agents, in this Letter we report the in vitro antiprotozoal activity of omeprazole, lansoprazole, rabeprazole and pantoprazole against Trichomonas vaginalis, Giardia intestinalis and Entamoeba histolytica. Molecular modeling studies were

Antiprotozoal activity of chloroquinoline based chalcones
European Journal of Medicinal Chemistry, 2011A new series of chloroquinoline based chalcones were synthesized and evaluated for in vitro antiamoebic and antimalarial activities. The results showed that out of fifteen compounds, four were found to be more active against the Entamoeba histolytica; while one compound was moderatively active compared to the standard drug metronidazole (IC50=1.46 μM).

Antiprotozoal Activity and DNA Binding of Dicationic Acridones
Journal of Medicinal Chemistry, 2015Dicationic acridone derivatives were synthesized and their antiparasitic activity was evaluated. Acridones displayed in vitro nanomolar IC50 values against Trypanosoma brucei rhodesiense STIB900 with selectivity indices >1000. Compounds 1b, 3a, and 3b were as potent as the reference drug melarsoprol in this assay.
