A natural variation in the promoter of TaGDSL‐7D contributes to grain weight and yield in wheat

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, EarlyView.
Summary Grain weight (GW) is a critical agronomic trait that greatly impacts wheat yield, yet the underlying genetic factors remain largely unknown. Here, we identify and characterize a candidate gene TaGDSL‐7D controlling GW in wheat through map‐based cloning, which encodes an ER‐located GDSL‐family protein.

The Highly Conserved Cys95 Residue of Fructose‐1,6‐Bisphosphatase 1 Mediates the pH‐Driven Structure and Activity of the Enzyme and Photosynthesis

open access: yesPlant, Cell &Environment, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT In Arabidopsis, exposure to microbial volatile compounds promotes thiol reduction of the Cys95 residue of the photosynthetic enzyme fructose‐1,6‐bisphosphatase (cFBP1). Although highly conserved in plants, the Cys95 function still remains unknown. We characterised recombinant wild‐type (WT) cFBP1 and a variant (C95S) in which the Cys95 residue

Advancing antihypertensive drug development

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, Volume 182, Issue 15, Page 3389-3410, August 2025.
Hypertension affects more than a billion individuals worldwide and remains a major cause of cardiovascular morbidity and mortality. Despite advances in therapies, optimal blood pressure control remains elusive for many patients because of treatment resistance, adverse effects, and adherence challenges.

Optimisation of Heated Electrospray Ionisation Parameters to Minimise In‐Source Generated Impurities in the Analysis of Oligonucleotide Therapeutics

open access: yesRapid Communications in Mass Spectrometry, Volume 39, Issue 13, 15 July 2025.
ABSTRACT Rationale Oligonucleotides have emerged as an important new class of therapeutic. Due to their structural complexity, this presents significant challenges for the development of analytical methods to characterise and determine their impurity profile.
