Abstract The APOE4 gene, particularly the ε4 allele, is linked to susceptibility to Alzheimer's disease, and periodontitis can cause pathological changes in multiple organs, but combined effects of these conditions and the impact of tumor necrosis factor (TNF)‐α regulation on the combined effects remain unclear.

Small leucine‐rich proteoglycans (SLRPs) are key modulators of extracellular matrix structure and signaling. Their proteolytic processing by MMPs (Matrix Metalloproteinases), ADAMTS (disintegrin and metalloprotease with thrombospondin motifs), and serine proteases generates bioactive fragments that regulate collagen remodeling, inflammation, and ...

We examined the frequency of diagnostic variants associated with Mendelian kidney disease in patients with type 2 diabetes and compared their prevalence between those with and without DKD. A total of 2177 patients with type 2 diabetes were examined. The prevalences of diagnostic variant of Mendelian kidney disease were 8.6% (DKD +) vs 7.8%, and there ...

Abstract Ageing and Alzheimer's disease lead to declines in the brain region underlying memory for past events (hippocampus), and subsequently in memory for past events (episodic memory). However, some people show considerable adaptability in maintaining cognitive processes despite brain ageing or disease.

Systemic, Lifestyle and Environmental Modifying Factors in the Pathogenesis of Periodontitis
A variety of impacting factors in the pathogenesis of periodontitis exist, including systemic, lifestyle, and environmental factors. This review highlights the manifold mechanistic aspects of the link between the pathogenesis of periodontitis, addressing these numerous factors to supplement the long‐standing knowledge of the progression of the disease.
