IgG anti-apolipoprotein A-1 antibodies in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus are associated with disease activity and corticosteroid therapy: an observational study. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
IgG anti-apolipoprotein A-1 (IgG anti-apoA-1) antibodies are present in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and may link inflammatory disease activity and the increased risk of developing atherosclerosis and cardiovascular disease (CVD) in ...

CX3CL1 in Early Detection of Alzheimer's Disease: Plasma Dynamics Across Age and Disease Stages

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Backgrounds Alzheimer's disease (AD) is characterized by amyloid‐beta plaques, tau tangles, and neuroinflammation. C‐X3‐C motif chemokine ligand 1 (CX3CL1, also known as fractalkine), a neuroimmune chemokine implicated in AD pathogenesis, shows inconsistent alterations in plasma/serum across studies.

Prediction of Cognitive Decline in Healthy Older Adults using fMRI [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Few studies have examined the extent to which structural and functional MRI, alone and in combination with genetic biomarkers, can predict future cognitive decline in asymptomatic elders.

PRELIVE: A Framework for Predicting Lipid Nanoparticles In Vivo Efficacy and Reducing Reliance on Animal Testing

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
PREdicting LNP In Vivo Efficacy (PRELIVE) framework enables the prediction of lipid nanoparticle (LNPs) organ‐specific delivery through dual modeling approaches. Composition‐based models using formulation parameters and protein corona‐based models using biological fingerprints both achieve high predictive accuracy across multiple organs.

Quality control in the apoA-I secretory pathway

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 2004
From a total of 47 known apolipoprotein A-I (apoA-I) mutations, only 18 are linked to low plasma HDL apoA-I concentrations, and 78% of these map to apoA-I helices 6 and 7 (residues 143–186).

An Apolipoprotein A-I Mimetic Works Best in the Presence of Apolipoprotein A-I [PDF]

open access: yesCirculation Research, 2005
See related article, pages 1190–1197 Ou et al1 report that an apolipoprotein A-I (apoA-I) mimetic peptide, D-4F, reduced wall thickness and improved vasoreactivity in the fascialis artery (internal diameter 180 to 240 μm) in low-density lipoprotein (LDL) receptor–null mice on a Western diet.

Strategies to Improve the Lipophilicity of Hydrophilic Macromolecular Drugs

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Hydrophilic macromolecular drugs can be successfully lipidized by covalent attachment of lipids, by hydrophobic ion pairing with negatively or positively charged surfactants, and by dry or wet reverse micelle formation. Lipophilicity enhancement of hydrophilic macromolecules has several benefits including stability and bioavailability improvement ...

High-density Lipoproteins and Apolipoprotein A-I: Potential New Players in the Prevention and Treatment of Lung Disease

open access: yesFrontiers in Pharmacology, 2016
Apolipoprotein A-I (apoA-I) and high-density lipoproteins (HDL) mediate reverse cholesterol transport out of cells. Furthermore, HDL has additional protective functions, which include anti-oxidative, anti-inflammatory, anti-apoptotic, and vasoprotective
