Tg6F ameliorates the increase in oxidized phospholipids in the jejunum of mice fed unsaturated LysoPC or WD[S]

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 2016
Mouse chow supplemented with lysophosphatidylcholine with oleic acid at sn-1 and a hydroxyl group at sn-2 (LysoPC 18:1) increased LysoPC 18:1 in tissue of the jejunum of LDL receptor (LDLR)-null mice by 8.9 ± 1.7-fold compared with chow alone.

Sex differences in brain glucose metabolism and Alzheimer's disease risk and progression

open access: yesAlzheimer's &Dementia, Volume 22, Issue 6, June 2026.
Abstract Sex differences are increasingly recognized as central to the biology of Alzheimer's disease (AD), yet the mechanisms through which they shape brain metabolism and disease vulnerability remain incompletely understood. Brain glucose hypometabolism is a core hallmark of AD and emerges decades before clinical decline, but accumulating evidence ...

Apolipoprotein A-I Mimetic Peptide 4F Rescues Pulmonary Hypertension by Inducing MicroRNA-193-3p [PDF]

open access: yesCirculation, 2014
Background—Pulmonary arterial hypertension is a chronic lung disease associated with severe pulmonary vascular changes. A pathogenic role of oxidized lipids such as hydroxyeicosatetraenoic and hydroxyoctadecadienoic acids is well established in vascular disease.

A novel approach to oral apoA-I mimetic therapy[S]

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 2013
Transgenic tomato plants were constructed with an empty vector (EV) or a vector expressing an apoA-I mimetic peptide, 6F. EV or 6F tomatoes were harvested, lyophilized, ground into powder, added to Western diet (WD) at 2.2% by weight, and fed to LDL ...

Nanomaterial‐based immune therapeutic strategies in neurodegenerative diseases

open access: yesBMEMat, Volume 4, Issue 2, June 2026.
This review highlights the immunomodulatory potential of nanomaterials (NMs) in treating neurodegenerative diseases (NDs). It focuses on their roles in regulating innate and adaptive immune responses to maintain immune homeostasis. By providing insights into these mechanisms, the review lays the groundwork for innovative NMs therapeutic strategies to ...

Physiology, pathology and therapeutic potential of microglial triggering receptor expressed on myeloid cells 2 signalling: A narrative update

open access: yesClinical and Translational Discovery, Volume 6, Issue 3, June 2026.
TREM2hi microglia and macrophages exert distinct roles in neurological diseases. Enhancing TREM2 signalling supports pathological protein or debris clearance and mitigates inflammation in Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, demyelination disorders and stroke, whereas blocking TREM2 may alleviate tauopathy and ...

Transgenic 6F tomatoes act on the small intestine to prevent systemic inflammation and dyslipidemia caused by Western diet and intestinally derived lysophosphatidic acid[S]

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 2013
We recently reported that levels of unsaturated lysophosphatidic acid (LPA) in the small intestine significantly correlated with the extent of aortic atherosclerosis in LDL receptor-null (LDLR−/−) mice fed a Western diet (WD). Here we demonstrate that WD

Tramiprosate, the Active Agent of ALZ‐801, Modulates Amyloidogenic APP Processing and Tau Phosphorylation in a Cellular Model of Alzheimer's Disease

open access: yesDrug Development Research, Volume 87, Issue 4, June 2026.
ABSTRACT ALZ‐801, a valine‐conjugated prodrug of tramiprosate, has recently been evaluated in a Phase III trial as a potential Alzheimer's disease (AD)‐modifying therapy. Tramiprosate reduces misfolding of amyloid beta (Aβ) monomers and inhibits oligomer formation. In the present study, we investigated tramiprosate's effects on amyloidogenic processing
