Lipid-free Antigen B subunits from echinococcus granulosus: oligomerization, ligand binding, and membrane interaction properties [PDF]
Background: The hydatid disease parasite Echinococcus granulosus has a restricted lipid metabolism, and needs to harvest essential lipids from the host.

Production of human recombinant proapolipoprotein A-I in Escherichia coli: purification and biochemical characterization [PDF]
A human liver cDNA library was used to isolate a clone coding for apolipoprotein A-I (Apo A-I). The clone carries the sequence for the prepeptide (18 amino acids), the propeptide (6 amino acids), and the mature protein (243 amino acids).

Apolipoprotein Proteomics for Residual Lipid-Related Risk in Coronary Heart Disease [PDF]
BACKGROUND: Recognition of the importance of conventional lipid measures and the advent of novel lipid-lowering medications have prompted the need for more comprehensive lipid panels to guide use of emerging treatments for the prevention of coronary ...

Degradation of human apolipoprotein B‐100 by apolipoprotein(a)
Human plasma low density lipoproteine (LDL) contain a very high molecular weight protein termed apoB‐100 (M r = 550,000). In many samples of LDL, minor components designated as apoB‐74 (M r = 407,000) and apoB‐26 (M r = 145,000) are present. It has been shown that they can arise as a result of proteolytic degradation of apoB‐100.

Apolipoprotein mimetics in cancer
Peptides have many advantages over traditional therapeutics, including small molecules and other biologics, because of their low toxicity and immunogenicity, while still exhibiting efficacy. This review discusses the benefits and mechanism of action of apolipoprotein mimetic peptides in tumor biology and their potential utility in treating various ...

Aqueous Humor Apolipoprotein Concentration and Severity of Diabetic Retinopathy in Type 2 Diabetes. [PDF]
An imbalance of plasma apolipoproteins has been linked to diabetic retinopathy (DR); however, there is scarce information regarding their presence in the aqueous humor (AH) and their role in DR.

In this report, we have identified two apolipoproteins (apo), apoD and apoA-IV, that, together with the previously identified apoA-I and apoE, accumulate in the regenerating peripheral nerve. These four apolipoproteins were identified in regenerating rat sciatic nerves by their molecular weights, their isoelectric points, and their recognition by ...

On the Aggregation of Apolipoprotein A-I
In vivo, apolipoprotein A-I (ApoA-I) is commonly found together with lipids in so-called lipoprotein particles. The protein has also been associated with several diseases—such as atherosclerosis and amyloidosis—where insoluble aggregates containing ApoA-I are deposited in various organs or arteries.

Apolipoprotein[a] is not associated with apolipoprotein B in human liver
The aim of this research was to determine whether apolipoprotein[a] (apo[a]) is linked to apolipoprotein B (apoB) in human liver. Four ELISAs were developed: 1) a competition assay that measures apoB; 2) a competition assay that measures apo[a]; 3) a capture assay based on capture of apo[a] by a polyclonal antibody and detection of co-immobilized apoB ...
