Aquaporin 2 (AQP2) is widely recognized for its role in vasopressin-stimulated water transport across the collecting duct and hence in the production of concentrated urine.[1][1],[2][2] AQP2 is primarily expressed in the apical plasma membrane and subapical vesicles of the collecting duct ...

Aquaporin-10 represents an alternative pathway for glycerol efflux from human adipocytes. [PDF]
BACKGROUND: Glycerol outflow from adipocytes has been considered for a decade to be mediated by aquaporin-7, an aquaglyceroporin highly expressed in the adipose tissue. Its involvement in glycerol metabolism has been widely studied also in humans. Recent

Expression and prognostic value of aquaporin 1, 3 in cervical carcinoma in women of Uygur ethnicity from Xinjiang, China. [PDF]
BACKGROUND: Overexpression of several aquaporins has been reported in different types of human cancer but the role of aquaporins in carcinogenesis has not yet been clearly defined.

Localization and trafficking of aquaporin 2 in the kidney [PDF]
Aquaporins (AQPs) are membrane proteins serving in the transfer of water and small solutes across cellular membranes. AQPs play a variety of roles in the body such as urine formation, prevention from dehydration in covering epithelia, water handling in the blood-brain barrier, secretion, conditioning of the sensory system, cell motility and metastasis,

Several point mutations have been identified in human aquaporins, but their effects on the function of the respective aquaporins are mostly enigmatic. We analyzed the impact of the aquaporin 2 mutation V71M, which causesnephrogenic diabetes insipidus in ...

Aquaporin‐2 regulation in health and disease [PDF]
AbstractAquaporin‐2 (AQP2), the vasopressin‐regulated water channel of the renal collecting duct, is dysregulated in numerous disorders of water balance in people and animals, including those associated with polyuria (urinary tract obstruction, hypokalemia, inflammation, and lithium toxicity) and with dilutional hyponatremia (syndrome of inappropriate ...

Aquaporin-4 expression in distal myopathy with rimmed vacuoles
Background Distal myopathy with rimmed vacuoles/hereditary inclusion body myopathy is clinically characterized by the early involvement of distal leg muscles. The striking pathological features of the myopathy are muscle fibers with rimmed vacuoles.

Aquaporin-2 in the immature rat [PDF]
The immature kidney is resistant to arginine vasopressin. To define the role of aquaporin-2 (AQP-2), the developmental expression of this water channel was studied in rats. AQP-2 levels were lower during early postnatal life, reaching maximal expression at 10 wk of age. Concurrently, urine osmolality increased from 242 +/- 60 to 1267 +/- 311 mosmol/kg.

Aquaporin-2 (AQP2) is a molecular water channel protein responsible for water reabsorption by the kidney collecting ducts. Many water balance disorders are associated with defects in AQP2 gene expression regulated by the peptide hormone vasopressin. Here,
