Shortening of primary cilia length is associated with urine concentration in the kidneys [PDF]
Background The primary cilium, a microtubule-based cellular organelle present in certain kidney cells, functions as a mechano-sensor to monitor fluid flow in addition to various other biological functions.

IDENTIFICATION OF AQUAPORIN 7 GENE POLYMORPHISM AND IN-VIVO FERTILITY OF EGYPTIAN BUFFALO BULLS [PDF]
This work aimed to investigate the genetic polymorphism of Aquaporin 7 (AQP7) gene and its association with the in-vivo fertility of Egyptian buffalo bulls. A total of 188 fresh semen ejaculates were collected from 47 buffalo bulls and subjected to semen

Molecular cloning and characterization of mouse aquaporin 6 [PDF]
In the rat kidney, aquaporin (AQP) 6 is localized in the intracellular vesicle membranes of type-A intercalated cells of the collecting duct; mouse AQP6 (mAQP6) has not been characterized. Although mAQP6 was originally cloned from cDNA in a mouse cerebellum library (GenBank NM 175087), we have independently cloned a cDNA encoding mAQP6 from an adult ...

Aquaporin 6 binds calmodulin in a calcium-dependent manner [PDF]
Aquaporin 6 (AQP6) is an anion channel that is expressed primarily in acid secreting alpha-intercalated cells of the kidney collecting duct. In addition, AQP6 anion channel permeability is gated by low pH. Inspection of the N-terminus of AQP6 revealed a putative calmodulin binding site.

Aquaporin-6 Expression in the Cochlear Sensory Epithelium Is Downregulated by Salicylates [PDF]
We characterize the expression pattern of aquaporin-6 in the mouse inner ear by RT-PCR and immunohistochemistry. Our data show that in the inner ear aquaporin-6 is expressed, in both vestibular and acoustic sensory epithelia, by the supporting cells directly contacting hair cells.

Expression and immunolocalization of aquaporin-6 (Aqp6) in the rat inner ear [PDF]
Since aquaporin-6 (Aqp6) protein was located in the membrane of intracellular vesicles of the stria vascularis, endolymphatic sac, and vestibule, Aqp6 might be involved in some distinct physiological function of acid-base metabolism and water balance in endolymphatic fluid homeostasis.

Aquaporin-4 gene silencing protects injured neurons after early cerebral infarction
Aquaporin-4 regulates water molecule channels and is important in tissue regulation and water transportation in the brain. Upregulation of aquaporin-4 expression is closely related to cellular edema after early cerebral infarction.
