Cell Segmentation Beyond 2D—A Review of the State‐of‐the‐Art
Cell segmentation underpins many biological image analysis tasks, yet most deep learning methods remain limited to 2D despite the inherently 3D nature of cellular processes. This review surveys segmentation approaches beyond 2D, comparing 2.5D and fully 3D methods, analyzing 31 models and 32 volumetric datasets, and introducing a unified reference ...

Glycosylation of arabinogalactan-proteins essential for development in Arabidopsis
Arabinogalactan-proteins (AGPs) are ubiquitous cell wall components present throughout the plant kingdom. They are extensively post translationally modified by conversion of proline to hydroxyproline (Hyp) and by addition of arabinogalactan (AG) polysaccharides to Hyp residues.

SPL8, an SBP-box gene that affects pollen sac development in Arabidopsis [PDF]
SQUAMOSA PROMOTER BINDING PROTEIN-box genes (SBP-box genes) encode plant-specific proteins that share a highly conserved DNA binding domain, the SBP domain.

A fully protein‐based hydrogel integrated two orthogonal photoreceptors to enable reversible manipulation of stiffness with red/far‐red light and irreversible gel‐sol transitions with green light. Unexpectedly, high‐intensity red light results in attenuated stiffening and dark‐adaptation, arising from increased crosslinking dynamics in the ...

Abstract Premise As the sister clade to angiosperms, extant gymnosperms are crucial for reconstructing ancestral gene regulatory networks in seed plants. This highlights the need for model systems representing each of their distinct lineages. However, tools to quickly and effectively investigate gene function in gymnosperms are still limited due to the

Structural investigation of the Arabidopsis thaliana circadian clock [PDF]
Plants, like most organisms, have developed elaborate mechanisms for anticipating periodic environmental changes. The circadian clock allows an organism to adapt its metabolic, developmental and physiological processes to coincide with favourable ...

A cost‐effective DNA extraction protocol for long‐read sequencing in non‐model plants
Abstract Premise Third‐generation sequencing has revolutionized genomics, enabling in‐depth analysis of genome sequence, structure, and epigenetic features. Yet, extracting high‐quality DNA for long‐read sequencing remains a bottleneck—particularly in non‐model plants, such as mature trees growing in natural environments, which often contain abundant ...

Adaptive Genomic Divergence Across Altitudes in Capsella bursa‐pastoris
Genomic divergence was observed between high‐altitude and low‐altitude populations of Capsella bursa‐pastoris in China, consistent with an important role of ecological factors. Candidate adaptive loci associated with enhanced energy metabolism, photoprotection, and growth plasticity under altitudinal stress were identified.
