An arabinogalactan-protein from rape leaves. [PDF]
A l-fucose-containing arabinogalactan-protein that strongly inhibited hemagglutination by eel anti-H agglutinin of human O erythrocytes was purified from hot phosphate-buffered saline extracts of mature leaves of rape, Brassica campestris. The purified glycoconjugate consisted of 90% of the polysaccharide moiety comprising l-fucose, l-arabinose, d ...

Carrot arabinogalactan proteins are interlinked with pectins [PDF]
Cell wall extracts from a carrot cell culture and tap roots were obtained by sequential extraction with water, EDTA buffer solution and cold sodium hydroxide solution. Arabinogalactan proteins (AGPs) were isolated from the extracts and from the medium of the cell culture and analysed for their molecular weight distribution and carbohydrate composition.

AtFUT4 and AtFUT6 Are Arabinofuranose-Specific Fucosyltransferases
The bulk of plant biomass is comprised of plant cell walls, which are complex polymeric networks, composed of diverse polysaccharides, proteins, polyphenolics, and hydroxyproline-rich glycoproteins (HRGPs).

Galactan synthesis in a single step via oligomerization of monosaccharides
Galactans ranging in length from one to five residues were prepared in a single step by treatment of the glycosyl donor 2,3,4-tri-O-benzoyl-β-D-galactopyranosyl fluoride with lanthanum perchlorate in the presence of an initiator alcohol.

Decabromodiphenyl ether (BDE-209), a widely used polybrominated diphenyl ether, is a persistent environmental pollutant with intestinal toxicity. Arabinogalactan possesses antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, but its ability to counteract BDE ...

Cell wall O-glycoproteins and N-glycoproteins: biosynthesis and some functional aspects.
Cell wall O-glycoproteins and N-glycoproteins are two types of glycomolecules whose glycans are structurally complex. They are both assembled and modified within the endomembrane system, i.e., the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) and the Golgi apparatus ...

Identification and functional analysis of arabinogalactan protein expressed in pear pollen tubes
Arabinogalactan proteins (AGPs) are widely distributed in the plant kingdom and play a vital role during the process of plant sexual reproduction. In this study, we performed a comprehensive identification of the PbrAGPs expressed in pear pollen and ...

Arabinogalactans and arabinogalactan-proteins induce embryogenesis in wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) microspore culture [PDF]
The objective of this study was to improve induction of embryogenesis in wheat microspore culture in order to obtain a high number of regenerable embryos. The arabinogalactan (AG) Larcoll and the arabinogalactan-protein (AGP) from gum arabic were tested on two spring genotypes to see if they could increase microspore viability and induce embryogenesis ...
