This study demonstrates that BNNT exposure disrupts lipid homeostasis in bronchial epithelial cell cultures and activates eicosanoid lipid biosynthesis, producing inflammatory lipid mediators like leukotrienes. These effects are more pronounced in asthmatic cell cultures compared to healthy ones.

12-Lipoxygenase Promotes Obesity-Induced Oxidative Stress in Pancreatic Islets [PDF]
High-fat diets lead to obesity, inflammation, and dysglycemia. 12-Lipoxygenase (12-LO) is activated by high-fat diets and catalyzes the oxygenation of cellular arachidonic acid to form proinflammatory intermediates.

Lipoxygenase metabolites of arachidonic acid modulate hematopoiesis [PDF]
Lipoxygenase (LPO) metabolites of arachidonic acid participate in the activation and/or proliferation of a variety of cell types. In this study, we examined the role of LPO metabolites in controlling myelopoiesis and erythropoiesis in vitro. Monocyte depleted cells (MDC) prepared from human whole blood or whole mononuclear cells from human bone marrow ...

The precise structures and stereochemistry of trihydroxy-linoleates esterified in human and porcine epidermis and their significance in skin barrier function: Implication of an epoxide hydrolase in the transformations of linoleate [PDF]
Creation of an intact skin water barrier, a prerequisite for life on dry land, requires the lipoxygenase-catalyzed oxidation of the essential fatty acid linoleate, which is esterified to the ω-hydroxyl of an epidermis-specific ceramide.

RNA‐Binding Proteins and Ferroptosis in Cancer: Mechanism and Therapeutic Implications
Ferroptosis critically influences cancer cell fate and represents a promising therapeutic strategy. Emerging evidence identifies RNA‐binding proteins (RBPs) as key post‐transcriptional regulators of ferroptosis. The figure summarizes ferroptosis‐related RBPs across cancers: blue RBPs act as tumor suppressors by promoting ferroptosis, whereas red RBPs ...

Potential role of the lipoxygenase derived lipid mediators in atherosclerosis: leukotrienes, lipoxins and resolvins [PDF]
Atherogenesis is an inflammatory process with leukocytes infiltrating the arterial intima. The lipoxygenase pathways play a role in leukocyte recruitment through the generation of two classes of arachidonic acid lipid mediators, the leukotrienes and the ...

Involvement of leukotriene pathway in the pathogenesis of ischemia-reperfusion injury and septic and non-septic shock. [PDF]
The 5-lipoxygenase (5-LO) pathway is responsible for the production of leukotrienes (LTs), inflammatory lipid mediators which play a role in innate immunity. More recently, a pivotal role of LTs in ischemia-reperfusion and shock injury has been suggested.
