Safety Evaluation of Repeated Application of Polymeric Microarray Patches in Miniature Pigs
This study demonstrates the safety of repeated application of three types of microarray patches (MAPs), hydrogelforming, dissolving, and implantable, over four weeks in miniature pigs. No adverse skin or systemic effects were observed, supporting the clinical potential of MAPs as safe and effective drug delivery platforms.

Temperature and time-dependent effects of delayed blood processing on oxylipin concentrations in human plasma. [PDF]
BACKGROUND:Oxidized derivatives of polyunsaturated fatty acids, collectively known as oxylipins, are labile bioactive mediators with diverse roles in human physiology and pathology.

Arachidonic Acid-metabolizing Cytochrome P450 Enzymes Are Targets of ω-3 Fatty Acids*
Eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) protect against cardiovascular disease by largely unknown mechanisms. We tested the hypothesis that EPA and DHA may compete with arachidonic acid (AA) for the conversion by cytochrome P450 (CYP ...

Emerging Therapeutic Strategies for Hearing Loss
Challenges still exist in treating hearing loss in cases of severe damage to hair cells or spiral ganglion neurons. Here, a schematic diagram of cochlear sensory hair cells and auditory nerves is presented. It is found that in normal Corti organs, hair cells have upright stereocilia at the top and auditory neurons at the base. Ototoxic drugs, noise, or

The metabolism of the linolenic acid family (n-3) of fatty acids, e.g., linolenic, eicosapentaenoic, and docosahexaenoic acids, in cultured smooth muscle cells from rabbit aorta was compared to the metabolism of linoleic and arachidonic acids.

Plasmalogens in Innate Immune Cells: From Arachidonate Signaling to Ferroptosis
Polyunsaturated fatty acids such as arachidonic acid are indispensable components of innate immune signaling. Plasmalogens are glycerophospholipids with a vinyl ether bond in the sn-1 position of the glycerol backbone instead of the more common sn-1 ...

Omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids and inflammatory processes: nutrition or pharmacology?
Eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) are n-3 fatty acids found in oily fish and fish oil supplements. These fatty acids are able to inhibit partly a number of aspects of inflammation including leucocyte chemotaxis, adhesion molecule

In the context of chronic hyperglycemia, a DDR is initiated, leading to the pathological activation of DNA‐PKcs in the diabetic heart. This activated DNA‐PKcs directly interacts with and phosphorylates YAP1 at Thr226, thereby increasing the nuclear expression of YAP1.

Fate of linoleic, arachidonic, and docosa-7,10,13,16-tetraenoic acids in rat testicles
A comparative study was made on the fate of linoleic, arachidonic, and docosa-7,10,13,16-tetraenoic acids in various subcellular fractions of liver and testis from rats of different ages.
