Multi-robot three-dimensional coverage of unknown areas [PDF]

open access: yesThe International Journal of Robotics Research, 2012
The problem of deploying a team of flying robots to perform surveillance coverage missions over an unknown terrain of complex and non-convex morphology is presented. In such a mission, the robots attempt to maximize the part of the terrain that is visible while keeping the distance between each point in the terrain and the closest team member as small

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

Nominal Evaluation of Automatic Multi-Sections Control Potential in Comparison to a Simpler One- or Two-Sections Alternative with Predictive Spray Switching

open access: yesAgriculture
Automatic Section Control (ASC) promises to minimize spray overlap areas. The idea is to (i) switch off spray nozzles on areas that have already been sprayed, and (ii) to dynamically adjust nozzle flow rates along the boom bar that holds the spray ...

Bridging the gap: Multi‐stakeholder perspectives of molecular diagnostics in oncology

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Although molecular diagnostics is transforming cancer care, implementing novel technologies remains challenging. This study identifies unmet needs and technology requirements through a two‐step stakeholder involvement. Liquid biopsies for monitoring applications and predictive biomarker testing emerge as key unmet needs. Technology requirements vary by

Research on Anti-Submarine Warfare Method of Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Cluster Based on Area Coverage and Distributed Optimization Control

open access: yesDrones
Maritime security is vital to national security. The application of unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) clusters in marine anti-submarine warfare (ASW) presents a new and significant challenge worthy of in-depth study.

Localized Sensor Area Coverage with Low Communication Overhead [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Mobile Computing, 2006
We propose several localized sensor area coverage protocols, for arbitrary ratio of sensing and transmission radii. Sensors are assumed to be time synchronized, and active sensors are determined at the beginning of each round. The approach has a very small communication overhead since prior knowledge about neighbor existence is not required.

Deployment Strategies of Multiple Aerial BSs for User Coverage and Power Efficiency Maximization [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) based aerial base stations (BSs) can provide rapid communication services to ground users and are thus promising for future communication systems. In this paper, we consider a scenario where no functional terrestrial BSs are

Biomimetic Algorithms for Coordinated Motion: Theory and Implementation

open access: yes, 2015
Drawing inspiration from flight behavior in biological settings (e.g. territorial battles in dragonflies, and flocking in starlings), this paper demonstrates two strategies for coverage and flocking.

Adenosine‐to‐inosine editing of miR‐200b‐3p is associated with the progression of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A‐to‐I editing of miRNAs, particularly miR‐200b‐3p, contributes to HGSOC progression by enhancing cancer cell proliferation, migration and 3D growth. The edited form is linked to poorer patient survival and the identification of novel molecular targets.

Grenzen eines Qualitätswettbewerbs der stationären Versorgung in Deutschland: eine Analyse aus den Daten des Bundes-Klinik-Atlas

open access: yesMonitor Versorgungsforschung
Den Krankenhäusern in Deutschland wird gerne eine Über- und Fehlversorgung durch unnötige Leistungen und überflüssige Standorte unterstellt. Treiber dieser Annahme sind Themen wie Ambulantisierung und Zentralisierung.
