Cytokine Signaling Protein 3 (SOCS3) deficiency in myeloid cells promotes retinal degeneration and angiogenesis through arginase-1 up-regulation in experimental autoimmune uveoretinitis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
The suppressor of cytokine signalling protein 3 (SOCS3) critically controls immune cell activation, although its role in macrophage polarization and function remains controversial.

DataSheet10_Hepatic Ischemia-Reperfusion Impairs Blood-Brain Barrier Partly Due to Release of Arginase From Injured Liver.ZIP

open access: yes, 2021
Aim: Hepatic ischemia-reperfusion (HIR) induces remote organs injury, including the brain. The homeostasis of the brain is maintained by the blood-brain barrier (BBB); thus, we aimed to investigate whether HIR impaired BBB and attempted to elucidate its ...

A ROS‐Responsive and Mucoadhesive Thermosensitive Hydrogel Encapsulated with Mizoribine for Synergistic Dry Eye Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The ROS‐responsive in situ thermosensitive MZR@SPPP hydrogel system enables dual‐stage drug loading and sustained ocular delivery. Upon administration, it gelates at ocular surface temperature, enhancing ocular adhesion. By scavenging free radicals, restoring NRF2‐mediated antioxidant defense and mitochondrial homeostasis, and suppressing inflammatory ...

Arginase Activity in Vitamin E-Deficient Rats.

open access: yesExperimental Biology and Medicine, 1953
Summary1. Male rats were raised on a vit. E-deficient diet; some animals were given daily supplements of arginine monohydro-chloride. 2. Arginase activity of liver and kidney determined by the method of Kochak-ian. 3. There was no difference in arginase content of livers and kidneys of animals maintained on a vit. E-supplemented diet, a vit.

Arginase 2 deficiency prevents oxidative stress and limits hyperoxia-induced retinal vascular degeneration. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2014
Hyperoxia exposure of premature infants causes obliteration of the immature retinal microvessels, leading to a condition of proliferative vitreoretinal neovascularization termed retinopathy of prematurity (ROP).

Self‐Adaptive Biomimetic Nanocomposite Hydrogel Orchestrates Dual‐Targeting and On‐Demand H2S Gasotransmission for Multifactorial Diabetic Wound Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A self‐adaptive and biomimetic nanocomposite hydrogel is engineered to orchestrate dual‐targeting and on‐demand H2S gasotransmission for multifactorial diabetic wound therapy. By seamlessly integrating antibacterial, antioxidant, anti‐inflammatory, immunoregulatory, and pro‐angiogenic functions within a single platform, this hydrogel dynamically ...

Hereditary Spastic Paraplegia Is a Common Phenotypic Finding in ARG1 Deficiency, P5CS Deficiency and HHH Syndrome: Three Inborn Errors of Metabolism Caused by Alteration of an Interconnected Pathway of Glutamate and Urea Cycle Metabolism

open access: yesFrontiers in Neurology, 2019
Hereditary Spastic Paraplegias (HSPs) are a clinically and genetically heterogeneous group of neurodegenerative disorders characterized by a progressive rigidity and weakness of the lower limbs, caused by pyramidal tract lesions.

Epithelial SLC25A20 Deficiency Drives Immunosuppressive Neutrophil Remodeling via ARG1 Palmitoylation to Promote Colorectal Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
SLC25A20 deficiency in tumor cells compromises mitochondrial LCFA transport, which suppresses FAO and drives compensatory release of palmitic acid‐enriched lipids into the TME. These tumor‐derived palmitic acids are taken up by TANs, promoting ZDHHC18‐catalyzed ARG1 palmitoylation.
