Arginase Deficiency in Macaca fascicularis. I. Arginase Activity and Arginine Concentration in Erythrocytes and in Liver [PDF]

open access: yesPediatric Research, 1972
Extract: We have found a genetic trait of arginase deficiency in erythrocytes (RBC) of Macaca fascicularis (crabeater macaque). Measurements of arginase activities and arginine concentrations in RBC, and information derived from breeding experiments indicated that arginase activities in RBC are 12.59 mmoles/g hemoglobin (Hb)/hr (range: 8.36–15.24) in ...

Increase of arginase activity in old apolipoprotein-E deficient mice under Western diet associated with changes in neurovascular unit

open access: yesJournal of Neuroinflammation, 2012
Aging and atherosclerosis are well-recognized risk factors for cardiac and neurovascular diseases. The Apolipoprotein E deficient (ApoE−/−) mouse on a high-fat diet is a classical model of atherosclerosis, characterized by the presence of atherosclerotic

Low SLC8A1 in Colorectal Cancer Dictates Radiotherapy Resistance Through Calcium‐Dependent ANXA2+sEVs Driving M2 Polarization of TAMs

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
SLC8A1 deficiency in colorectal cancer cells increases intracellular calcium signaling, promoting the secretion of ANXA2‐enriched small extracellular vesicles. These vesicles reprogram tumor‐associated macrophages towards an M2 phenotype, which in turn fosters a tumor microenvironment conducive to radioresistance and is associated with poor patient ...

An Injectable ROS‐Responsive Nanozyme Hydrogel Regulates the Uterine Microenvironment to Prevent Intrauterine Adhesions

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The injectable CeTA@GPP hydrogel is administered via intrauterine injection, forming a protective barrier. In the high ROS inflammatory microenvironment of injured endometrium, boronate ester cleavage triggers responsive CeTA release and local enrichment.

Increased Arginase Expression and Decreased Nitric Oxide in Pig Donor Lungs after Normothermic Ex Vivo Lung Perfusion

open access: yesBiomolecules, 2020
An established pig lung transplantation model was used to study the effects of cold ischemia time, normothermic acellular ex vivo lung perfusion (EVLP) and reperfusion after lung transplantation on l-arginine/NO metabolism in lung tissue.

Resistance to Streptozotocin-Induced Autoimmune Diabetes in Absence of Complement C3: Myeloid-Derived Suppressor Cells Play a Role. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2013
The contribution of complement to the development of autoimmune diabetes has been proposed recently. The underlying mechanisms, however, remain poorly understood.

ERα–PADI4–CXCL8 Axis Drives MDSC‐Mediated Immune Evasion in Anaplastic Thyroid Carcinoma

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
MAPK‐driven ligand‐independent ERα activation drives PADI4 transcription and translation. This enzyme then modifies CXCL8 chemokines through citrullination, generating a potent chemoattractant gradient specifically for myeloid‐derived suppressor cells.

Engineered Peptide Self‐Assembled Nanofibers for Enhanced STING Activation: A Promising Nanodelivery Platform for Immunotherapy of Pediatric Solid Tumors

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An engineered peptide self‐assembled nanofiber platform, designed to replicate STING–cGAMP binding motifs, facilitates pH‐responsive cytosolic delivery of cGAMP, enhances the endoplasmic reticulum with high efficiency, and robustly activates the STING pathway.

A Case of Hyperargininaemia Presenting at Unusually Low Age [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Clinical and Diagnostic Research, 2017
Arginase or ARG1 gene deficiency is a Type V Urea Cycle Disorder (UCD) (catalysing the fifth reaction of urea cycle), associated with hyperammonaemia.
