Orchestrating the metastatic symphony: the role of extracellular vesicles in the epithelial–mesenchymal transition and pulmonary niche formation of breast cancer

open access: yesBiological Reviews, Volume 101, Issue 5, Page 2103-2118, October 2026.
ABSTRACT The complexity of breast cancer (BC) lung metastasis lies in the capacity of tumour cells to interact efficiently with distant organs to promote colonisation, a process that involves the sophisticated coordination of inherent cellular plasticity and the remodelling of the distant microenvironment.

On the importance of including both sexes in animal studies – insights from home‐cage monitoring

open access: yesBiological Reviews, Volume 101, Issue 5, Page 2408-2426, October 2026.
ABSTRACT A review of behavioural studies using home‐cage monitoring (HCM) systems revealed that over 61% of studies used only male subjects, with only 24% including both sexes, despite evidence of substantial behavioural differences between male and female animals. This bias could influence the outcomes of biomedical research.

Use of Metronomic Chemotherapy in Hormone Receptor‐Positive/HER2‐Negative Metastatic Breast Cancer: A Retrospective Multicenter Study

open access: yesCancer Medicine, Volume 15, Issue 10, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Purpose The optimal chemotherapy strategy after progression on cyclin‐dependent kinase 4/6 inhibitors (CDK4/6i) in hormone receptor‐positive/human epidermal growth factor receptor 2‐negative (HR+/HER2−) metastatic breast cancer remains a matter of controversy.

Menopausal Stage–Specific Associations of Body Fat Content and Total Body Water With Vasomotor Symptoms

open access: yesComprehensive Physiology, Volume 16, Issue 5, October 2026.
Associations of adiposity and total body water with vasomotor symptoms varied according to menopausal stage. Divergent relationships observed across body composition measures suggest that distinct physiological mechanisms may underlie vasomotor symptoms during the menopausal transition and postmenopause.

Hormone therapy (HT) in women with premature ovarian insufficiency or early menopause: Time to think of a new paradigm for healthy aging. A joint FIGO and IMS position paper

open access: yesInternational Journal of Gynecology &Obstetrics, Volume 175, Issue 1, Page 26-47, October 2026.
Abstract Premature ovarian insufficiency (POI) and early menopause (EM) affect millions of women worldwide. Compared with normal menopause, they confer a longer duration of estrogen deficiency and are associated not only with a shorter lifespan, but with a reduced healthspan, owing to an increased risk of cardiovascular, skeletal, cognitive and ...

Sonographic Assessment of Prostate Volume, Prostate Dimensions, and Associated Factors Among Adult Men Attending the University of Gondar Comprehensive Specialized Hospital, Northwest Ethiopia: A Cross‐Sectional Study

open access: yesTrends in Urology &Men's Health, Volume 17, Issue 5, October 2026.
ABSTRACT The prostate gland is the only internal organ that continues to enlarge throughout adulthood, and it is an important parameter in the evaluation of benign prostatic enlargement and other prostate disorders. However, data on prostate volume and its associated factors are limited in Ethiopia.
