Development and Optimization of Biofilms Made from Potato or Arracacha Starch
Starch/Staerke, 2021AbstractArracacha starch and potato starch are alternatives to synthetic polymers as starting materials for the production of biofilms. Herein, we determined the optimal concentrations of glycerol and potato or arracacha starch to obtain biofilms with high whiteness, transparency value (TV), and elastic modulus (E).

Ozone modification of arracacha starch: Effect on structure and functional properties
Food Hydrocolloids, 2020Abstract Arracacha starch presents interesting properties, such as a relatively low temperature of gelatinization and high paste clarity when compared with other commercial starches. Those characteristics can be very useful for industrial applications.

WEED INTERFERENCE IN ARRACACHA {Arracacia xantharrhiza Bancroft) [PDF]
Use of herbicides and hand weeding are common practices for weed control in root and tuber crops throughout the Caribbean Basin. In Puerto Rico, herbicides ametryn and paraquat are registered for use in some root and tuber production, but no herbicides are registered for arracacha.

Chilling injury sensitivity in arracacha (Arracacia xanthorrhiza) roots
Tropical Science, 2005Mature storage roots from two clones, Amarela de Carandai and Roxa de Vicosa, stored at 10°C showed only slight symptoms of chilling injury after 28 days. At 5°C both clones were moderately injured after 14 days and extremely injured after 28 days. Copyright © 2005 Whurr Publishers Ltd.

Characterization of a member of a new Potyvirus species infecting arracacha in Brazil
Archives of Virology, 2008An arracacha (Arracacia xanthorrhiza) plant collected in Brazil was found to be infected by a new virus. This viral isolate (named C17) systemically infected Nicotiana benthamiana and Apium graveolens. A polyclonal antibody was raised, and analysis of our arracacha germplasm collection showed a high infection rate of C17-like viruses (93% infection ...

High-throughput sequencing reveals a novel closterovirus in arracacha (Arracacia xanthorrhiza)
Archives of Virology, 2018High-throughput sequencing analysis detected a clostero-like virus from arracacha plants (Arracacia xanthorrhiza) in Brazil. The complete genome sequence, confirmed by RACE and Sanger sequencing, consists of 15,763 nucleotides with nine predicted open reading frames (ORFs) in a typical closterovirus genome organisation.

Abstract This chapter provides information on the importance, growing areas, plant development, cropping system, postharvest and product valorization of arracacha (Arracacia xanthorrhiza). Arracacha is an excellent alternative for small and medium producers, especially family farmers, due to its considerable demand for labour, mainly in ...

Complete genome sequence of arracacha mottle virus
Archives of Virology, 2012Arracacha mottle virus (AMoV) is the only potyvirus reported to infect arracacha (Arracacia xanthorrhiza) in Brazil. Here, the complete genome sequence of an isolate of AMoV was determined to be 9,630 nucleotides in length, excluding the 3' poly-A tail, and encoding a polyprotein of 3,135 amino acids and a putative P3N-PIPO protein.
