HSP70 colocalizes with PLK1 at the centrosome and disturbs spindle dynamics in cells arrested in mitosis by arsenic trioxide

open access: yes, 2017
Heat shock protein 70 (HSP70) has been shown to be a substrate of Polo-like kinase 1 (PLK1), and it prevents cells arrested in mitosis by arsenic trioxide (ATO) from dying.

Gasdermin‐Mediated Pyroptosis: Novel Strategies Against Colorectal Cancer

open access: yesCancer Science, EarlyView.
Pyroptosis is a double‐edged sword in colorectal cancer (CRC): chronic low‐grade pyroptosis promotes tumor progression, whereas acute induction of pyroptosis in cancer cells triggers antitumor immunity and enhances therapeutic response. Targeting gasdermin‐mediated pyroptosis represents a promising strategy for CRC treatment.

Gingival and localized alveolar bone necrosis related to the use of arsenic trioxide paste—Two case reports

open access: yesJournal of the Formosan Medical Association, 2014
The leakage of arsenic trioxide paste from tooth fillings has been associated with widespread necrosis of the supporting periodontal tissues. This report describes two cases of arsenic trioxide paste-induced gingival and localized alveolar bone necrosis ...

Localised Autophagy Inhibition by Nanodiamonds Potentiates Arsenic Therapy With Favourable Safety Profile in Solid Tumours

open access: yesCell Proliferation, EarlyView.
This study presents an NDs‐mediated localised combination strategy that integrates autophagy inhibition with low‐dose ATO sensitization, enabling effective tumour suppression while enhancing safety. NDs‐mediated autophagy blockade enhances ATO efficacy while minimising systemic toxicity, highlighting a promising approach for solid tumour treatment ...

An update on the landscape of collagen bioactive fragments

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
The remodeling of the extracellular matrix releases collagen bioactive fragments, which exert molecular functions and regulate numerous biological processes via several signaling pathways. Here, we summarize the latest findings describing the roles of major bioactive fragments from collagens I, IV, VI, and XVIII in various physiological and ...

Arsenic transport in plants [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Arsenic (As), a metalloid occurring ubiquitously in nature in organic and inorganic forms, is classified as a potent carcinogen. Among the inorganic forms which are more toxic, AsIII has a high affinity to bind with sulfhydryl groups of the amino acid ...

Development of a Nano‐Hybrid Composite Using Bovine Hydroxyapatite and Montmorillonite for Endodontic Applications—An In Vitro Study

open access: yesInternational Endodontic Journal, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Aim Hydraulic calcium silicate cements are widely employed in endodontics due to their excellent biocompatibility, bioactivity, sealing ability, and remineralisation potential. However, currently used products such as mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA) exhibit several limitations, including discolouration, cost, and poor handling properties ...

Potassium bromate assay by redox titrimetry using arsenic trioxide

open access: yes, 2003
Bromate, a disinfectant, is one of the analytes of interest in wastewater analysis. Environmental laboratories have a regulatory need for their measurements to be traceable to NIST standards.

Arsenic trioxide in the treatment of haematological malignancies

open access: yes, 2004
Arsenic trioxide (AS2O3) for leukaemia treatment was described a century ago. Recent resurgence in the use of arsenic trioxide is related to its high efficacy in acute promyelocytic leukaemia (APL).
