Ascorbate-mediated regulation of growth, photoprotection, and photoinhibition in Arabidopsis thaliana. [PDF]
The requirements for ascorbate for growth and photosynthesis were assessed under low (LL; 250 µmol m-2 s-1) or high (HL; 1600 µmol m-2 s-1) irradiance in wild-type Arabidopsis thaliana and two ascorbate synthesis mutants (vtc2-1 and vtc2-4) that have 30%

Vitamin C in the Management of Thyroid Cancer: A Highway to New Treatment?
Thyroid cancer (TC) is the most common endocrine malignancy, with an increased global incidence in recent decades, despite a substantially unchanged survival. While TC has an excellent overall prognosis, some types of TC are associated with worse patient

Distinct steps in the import of ADP/ATP carrier into mitochondria [PDF]
Transport of the precursor to the ADP/ATP carrier from the cytosol into the mitochondrial inner membrane was resolved into several consecutive steps. The precursor protein was trapped at distinct stages of the import pathway and subsequently chased to ...

Efecto del estrés producido por la mezcla de sales en la concentración de aldehído malónico, proteínas y enzimas antioxidantes de Leymus chinensis de tres colores foliares diferentes [PDF]
The mixed salt stress is common in nature. Salt stressalways affects plant growth. Different plant species have different adaptive capacity to salty soil. Leymus chinensis is an herbaceous plant with different leaf colors.

Mitochondrial Protein Import [PDF]
The role of nucleoside triphosphates (NTPs) in mitochondrial protein import was investigated with the precursors of N. crassa ADP/ATP carrier, F1-ATPase subunit β, F0-ATPase subunit 9, and fusion proteins between subunit 9 and mouse dihydrofolate ...

Effect of drought stress and ascorbic acid on some of antioxidant enzymes in antioxidative defense in Pimpinella anisum L. [PDF]
Drought stress is one of the abiotic stresses that induces reactive oxygen species(ROS) formation in plant tissues. ROS signaling promotes complex networks of antioxidant enzymes.

Spectroscopic and Theoretical Study of CuI Binding to His111 in the Human Prion Protein Fragment 106-115 [PDF]
The ability of the cellular prion protein (PrPC) to bind copper in vivo points to a physiological role for PrPC in copper transport. Six copper binding sites have been identified in the nonstructured N-terminal region of human PrPC.
