Intracellular Redox Compartmentation and ROS-Related Communication in Regulation and Signaling [PDF]
Recent years have witnessed enormous progress in understanding redox signaling related to reactive oxygen species (ROS) in plants. The consensus view is that such signaling is intrinsic to many developmental processes and responses to the environment ...

Summary Southern leaf blight (SLB), caused by the necrotrophic fungus Cochliobolus heterostrophus, is a major foliar disease of maize (Zea mays) world‐wide. A genome‐wide association study was performed to dissect the genetic basis of SLB resistance in maize. Functional validation was performed using mutant and transgenic analyses.

Decoding plant defense signaling using the defenseless mutant
Summary Can plants live without defenses? Mutant analysis in Arabidopsis thaliana has identified numerous regulators of biotic, abiotic, and hormone‐based defenses, but the redundancy among separate defense pathways remains unexplored. We constructed an Arabidopsis mutant, defenseless, lacking six canonical defense pathways using abi1‐1 (abscisic acid),

Plant responses to stresses: role of ascorbate peroxidase in the antioxidant protection
When plants are exposed to stressful environmental conditions, the production of Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS) increases and can cause significant damage to the cells. Antioxidant defenses, which can detoxify ROS, are present in plants.

ABSTRACT Boron, an essential micronutrient, plays a crucial role in plant reproductive processes. Boron deficiency is widespread in many regions and significantly reduces alfalfa (Medicago sativa) seed yield, yet the molecular mechanisms underlying its impact on reproductive organ development remain elusive.

ABSTRACT Low temperature triggers Ca2+ signalling and reprogramming of gene expression and metabolism in plants. However, how the Ca2+ signal is transduced to the downstream metabolic pathways remains unknown. The involvement of a cold‐induced calmodulin‐like protein, MfCML50, from Medicago falcata in regulation of cold tolerance was examined in the ...

Coordinated transcriptional regulation between a reactive oxygen species-responsive gene network and the circadian clock in Arabidopsis thaliana : a thesis presented in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Plant Biology at Massey University, Plant Biology, New Zealand [PDF]
Most organisms have evolved endogenous biological clocks as internal timekeepers to fine-tune physiological processes to the external environment. Energetic cycles such as photosynthesis and glycolytic cycles are physiological processes that have ...

Aldo-keto reductase-1 (AKR1) protect cellular enzymes from salt stress by detoxifying reactive cytotoxic compounds [PDF]
Cytotoxic compounds like reactive carbonyl compounds such as methylglyoxal (MG), melandialdehyde (MDA), besides the ROS accumulate significantly at higher levels under salinity stress conditions and affect lipids and proteins that inhibit plant growth ...
