Response of the ascorbate–glutathione cycle to excess copper in Arabidopsis thaliana (L.)
Plant Science, 2003Abstract An operation of the ascorbate–glutathione cycle was investigated in leaves of Arabidopsis thaliana treated with excess Cu (0, 5, 25 50 and 100 μM) for 1, 3 and 7 days. After one-day-treatment significant increase of dehydroascorbate reductase (DHAR) activity and decrease of GSH level was found independently on Cu concentration. Activity of

Enzymatic responses of the ascorbate-glutathione cycle to drought in sorghum and sunflower plants
Plant Science, 1996To determine if responses of H2O2-scavenging enzymes to drought differ in sorghum (Sorghum bicolor (L.) Moench, C4) and sunflower (Helianthus annuus L., C3), we measured activities of the enzymes involved in the ascorbate-glutathione cycle (AGC), ascorbate peroxidase (AP), dehydroascorbate reductase (DR), and monodehydro-ascorbate reductase (MR), as ...

Bechmeria nivea (L.) Gaud. (ramie) seedlings subjected to a series of cadmium (Cd) concentrations (0, 1, 3 and 7 mg l(-1)) over a 10d period were investigated with regard to the uptake and distribution of Cd, its effect on membrane lipid and chlorophyll synthesis, and response of the ascorbate-glutathione cycle in both leaves and roots.

The role of hydrogen sulfide (H2S) is well known in the regulation of abiotic stress such as toxic heavy metal. However, mechanism(s) lying behind this amelioration are still poorly known.

Function of the ascorbate-glutathione cycle in aged sunflower seeds
Physiologia Plantarum, 1996The function of the ascorbate‐glutathione (AsA/GSH) cycle was analyzed in seeds of sunflower (Helianthus annuus L. cv. Peredovik) subjected to accelerated ageing at 43°C and 75% relative humidity for 1 to 11 days. The study was performed using dry seeds and seeds hydrated by imbibition in distilled water for 4 h at 25 °C.

The promising response of chromium-stressed (Cr(VI)-S) plants to hydrogen sulphide (H2S) has been observed, but the participation of nitric oxide (NO) synthesis in H2S-induced Cr(VI)-S tolerance in plants remains to be elucidated.
