Sound‐Based Assembly of Magnetically Actuated Soft Robots Toward Enhanced Release of Extracellular Vesicles

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, Volume 7, Issue 3, March 2025.
Magnetic soft robots offer promise in biomedicine due to their wireless actuation and rapid response, but current fabrication methods are complex and have limited cellular compatibility. A new, contactless bioassembly strategy using hydrodynamic instabilities is introduced, enabling customizable, centimeter‐scale robots.

Cerebrospinal Fluid Metabolome in Central Nervous System Infections: A Study of Diagnostic Accuracy

open access: yesAnnals of Neurology, EarlyView.
Objective To assess the diagnostic accuracy of metabolites in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) for central nervous system (CNS) infections. Methods Patients were derived from three prospective cohort studies in the Netherlands. All studies included adults suspected of a CNS infection who underwent a diagnostic lumbar puncture.

Impact of Interfacial Viscosity on the Robustness of Phospholipid‐Decorated Fluid Cell Scaffolds

open access: yesAdvanced NanoBiomed Research, EarlyView.
Viscosity‐tunable fluid scaffolds are developed by decorating a perfluorocarbon interface with phospholipid membranes (IPLMs) of varying unsaturated lipid contents. A solid‐like IPLM is cell‐adhesive but brittle, whereas the least viscous IPLM does not allow cell adhesion. Moderately viscous IPLMs serve as highly adaptive cellular scaffolds.

Combining Adipose‐Derived Stromal Cell Spheroids and Melt Electrowritten Scaffolds for a 3D Adipose Model Mimicking Structure and Function of Fat Tissue

open access: yesAdvanced NanoBiomed Research, EarlyView.
A 3D adipose tissue model is fabricated by combining melt electrowritten scaffolds with multicellular adipose‐derived stromal cell spheroids. The resulting constructs are characterized by a coherent, tissue‐like matrix. The lipid droplet size is tunable by oleic acid supplementation, reaching native‐like diameters.

D-Amino acids affect Pseudomonas aeruginosa biofilm and quorum sensing molecules in lung infection models developed under a cystic fibrosis environment

open access: yesScientific Reports
Pseudomonas aeruginosa commonly infects immunocompromised patients, including those with cystic fibrosis (CF). These infections are difficult to treat due to a variety of factors including the ability of Pseudomonas aeruginosa to resist to antibiotic ...
