Evaluation of catalase activity of clinical and environmental isolates of Aspergillus species
Background and Objectives: Catalases are a good scavenger of H2O2 which degrades hydrogen peroxide into water and oxygen. They are considered as a virulence factor that are present in both spores and hypha of fungi.

Formation of sclerotia and production of indoloterpenes by Aspergillus niger and other species in section Nigri. [PDF]
Several species in Aspergillus section Nigri have been reported to produce sclerotia on well-known growth media, such as Czapek yeast autolysate (CYA) agar, with sclerotia considered to be an important prerequisite for sexual development.

ABSTRACT There are only a few combinations of antifungal drugs with known resistance marker genes in the Aspergillus species; therefore, the transformation of their wild-type strains is limited. In this study, to develop the novel dominant selectable marker for itraconazole, a fungal cell membrane synthesis inhibitor, we focused on ...

Construction of transcription factor gene deletion library of Aspergillus luchuensis.
We selected 96 genes of Aspergillus luchuensis for the construction of a transcription factor gene deletion library. Of these, we successfully deleted 93 genes using Agrobacterium-mediated transformation (AMT) of A. luchuensis RIB 2604 ΔligD strains.

The white koji fungusAspergillus luchuensismut.kawachii
ABSTRACTThe white koji fungus, Aspergillus luchuensis mut. kawachii, is used in the production of shochu, a traditional Japanese distilled spirit. White koji fungus plays an important role in the shochu production process by supplying amylolytic enzymes such as α-amylase and glucoamylase.

Insights regarding sirtuin-dependent gene regulation during white koji production
White koji, a solid-state culture of Aspergillus luchuensis mut. kawachii using grains such as rice and barley, is used as a source of amylolytic enzymes and citric acid for the production of shochu, a traditional Japanese distilled spirit. We previously

Effects of Amazake Produced with Different Aspergillus on Gut Barrier and Microbiota
Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is a chronic inflammatory disease of the gastrointestinal tract. To explore the preventive effects of dietary foods on IBD, we evaluated the effects of the traditional Japanese fermented beverage “Amazake” on gut barrier ...
