Exploiting agricultural residues for sustainable bioconversion: production of cellulolytic and lignin‐degrading enzymes

open access: yesBiofuels, Bioproducts and Biorefining, Volume 19, Issue 6, Page 1997-2010, November/December 2025.
Abstract Agroindustrial activity generates substantial waste during harvesting and processing. This study investigated the potential use of sugarcane bagasse, corn cob husk, and wheat bran as substrates for enzyme production by Aspergillus niger and Ceriporiopsis subvermispora. Aspergillus niger and C. subvermispora exhibited comparable filter paperase

Aspergillus in Italian Pistachios: Characterization and Detection of Major Aflatoxigenic Species With a Loop‐Mediated Isothermal Amplification Assay

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 13, Issue 11, November 2025.
Identification A. flavus and A. parasiticus was done as major aflatoxigenic contaminants in Italian pistachios, both capable of producing high levels of Aflatoxin B1. Development of a LAMP assay targeting the nor1 gene was done, showing high sensitivity (0.03 pg of DNA) and specificity, even detecting contamination as low as 0.5 spores/g.

Protective role of endophytic fungi and salicylic acid as therapeutic nutrients to improve immune responses of tomato plants against fusarial wilt disease

open access: yesNotulae Botanicae Horti Agrobotanici Cluj-Napoca
The exacerbation of climatic changes helped to increase the risk of plant diseases in the world. Based on this concept, we suggest Endophytic fungi (EF) and Salicylic acid (SA) alternatives to reduce the spread of Fusarium wilt disease, which is one of ...

Topographical variations in the skin barrier and their role in disease pathogenesis

open access: yesJournal of the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology, Volume 39, Issue 7, Page 1228-1238, July 2025.
Unlike the gut, the skin appears uniform at first glance. However, histological and molecular biological research has revealed significant regional variations in the composition and function of its main barrier elements. In this review, we describe the topographical differences of four barrier elements in healthy skin: microbiome, chemical, physical ...

A Double‐Blind Randomised Clinical Trial of Terbinafine‐Nanostructured Lipid Carriers: Should We Anticipate This Strategy for Effective Topical Treatment of Onychomycosis?

open access: yesMycoses, Volume 68, Issue 6, June 2025.
ABSTRACT Background Oral terbinafine (TBF) is the drug of choice for onychomycosis management. To treat and heal the rough and thick nail tissue affected by fungal agents, a high dose and plasma concentration of this drug is necessary. This, however, poses a life‐threatening risk due to the cytotoxic side effects, drug–drug interactions, and adverse ...
