Functional comparison of EncB and EncC cargo proteins in iron storage within the Myxococcus xanthus encapsulin

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Encapsulins are protein nanocompartments that play an important role in iron storage. In the Myxococcus xanthus encapsulin system, two cargo proteins called EncB and EncC contribute to iron mineralization. Here, we show that EncB and EncC generate iron‐containing minerals with distinct chemical compositions, suggesting that the composition of stored ...

Quality Experiences in Aerospace Electronic Assembly

open access: yesDefence Science Journal, 2006
Quality of the electronic assembly depends largely on good quality practices (GQP) adopted during the process of electronic assembly. Quality experiences gained during working at the defence and space laboratories have been used to develop good quality practices such as three- tray method for cleaning of PCBs, use of grommets for cable routing, use of ...

Research on a Radiation Model for Bolt-Tightening Force Attenuation of Wheel-Type Parts

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
The tightening quality of bolts has a substantial impact on the overall assembly quality. Existing studies have analysed the quality of bolt assembly in terms of static factors such as the friction coefficient of the joint surface and the shape and ...

Artificial molecular machines and motors—Design and control of nanoscale motion

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Molecules are constantly moving because of thermal fluctuations, but random motion alone cannot be exploited to perform directional tasks. Artificial molecular machines use chemical, electrical, or light energy to bias this motion. Molecular shuttles, rotary motors, and supramolecular pumps illustrate how nanoscale movement can be controlled and ...

Report into the Assembly & Executive Reform (Assembly Opposition) Bill

open access: yes, 2016
This report examines the Assembly and Executive Reform (Assembly Opposition) Bill. The principal objective of this Bill is to enable the formation of an Opposition in the Assembly and to confer certain rights on that Opposition once formed. The Bill also

The heterodimeric amino acid transporters (HAT) of the SLC7/SLC3 family: A structure−function relationships and relevance to human pathology

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Heterodimeric amino acid transporters consist of SLC7 and SLC3 family proteins arranged in a conserved structural organization. They regulate nutrient transport across cell membranes, supporting essential cellular functions. These transporters also contribute to xenobiotic/drug uptake and distribution.

A context‐dependent modulatory role for eIF6 in acquired resistance to vemurafenib in melanoma

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Acquired resistance to vemurafenib upregulates the translation factor eIF6 in melanoma cells. Silencing eIF6 in resistant cells reduces proliferation and partially restores drug sensitivity, whereas its overexpression increases sensitivity across melanoma lines regardless of BRAF status, via modulation of mTOR, S6K, and MAPK signaling.

The ubiquitin system in normal and infected germinal center B cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The ubiquitin system plays a central role in germinal center (GC) B cells, influencing differentiation to long‐lived memory B cells. Oncogenic gammaherpesviruses gain access to memory B cells by establishing latency in GC B cells. Mapping ubiquitin mechanisms in normal and infected GC B cells will define specific molecular circuits in B cells germane ...
