A Case of IDH-Mutant Astrocytoma Harboring an IDH2 R172_H173delinsSN Variant. [PDF]

open access: yesNeuropathology
ABSTRACT IDH‐mutant gliomas most commonly harbor the canonical IDH1 p.R132H mutation, followed by less common mutations involving IDH1 p.R132 or IDH2 p.R172 codons. We present a case of a 32‐year‐old male found to have a left temporal brain tumor with regional enhancement on brain MRI, for which he underwent resection.

Infratentorial IDH-mutant astrocytoma is a distinct subtype

open access: yesActa Neuropathologica, 2020
Diffuse IDH-mutant astrocytic tumors are rarely diagnosed in the cerebellum or brainstem. In this multi-institutional study, we characterized a series of primary infratentorial IDH-mutant astrocytic tumors with respect to clinical and molecular ...

Distinct aneuploid evolution of astrocytoma and glioblastoma during recurrence

open access: yesnpj Precision Oncology, 2023
Astrocytoma and glioblastoma (GB) are reclassified subtypes of adult diffuse gliomas based on distinct isocitrate dehydrogenase (IDH) mutation in the fifth edition of the WHO Classification of Tumors of the Central Nervous System.

Detection of Glioma-Related Hotspot Mutations Through Sequencing of Cerebrospinal Fluid (CSF)-Derived Circulating Tumor DNA: A Pilot Study on CSF-Based Liquid Biopsy for Primary Spinal Cord Astrocytoma [PDF]

open access: yesNeurospine, 2023
Objective Although cerebrospinal fluid (CSF)-based liquid biopsy was proved to be practical in molecular analysis of intracranial gliomas, liquid biopsy of primary intramedullary astrocytoma was rarely reported.

Genetic alterations that deregulate RB and PDGFRA signaling pathways drive tumor progression in IDH2-mutant astrocytoma

open access: yesActa Neuropathologica Communications, 2023
In IDH-mutant astrocytoma, IDH2 mutation is quite rare and biological mechanisms underlying tumor progression in IDH2-mutant astrocytoma remain elusive.

Expression of delta-catenin is associated with progression of human astrocytoma

open access: yesBMC Cancer, 2011
Background δ-Catenin (CTNND2), which encodes a scaffold protein in humans, has been found in a few malignancies. However, the expression pattern and contribution of δ-catenin to astrocytoma progression are unclear.

SNHG17 drives malignant behaviors in astrocytoma by targeting miR-876-5p/ERLIN2 axis

open access: yesBMC Cancer, 2020
Background Astrocytoma is a common tumor type in primary central nervous system and has a high death rate around the world. Aberrant expression of long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) has been introduced by emerging studies to result in the development of ...

Pilomyxoid astrocytoma

open access: yesIndian Journal of Pathology and Microbiology, 2010
Pilomyxoid astrocytoma (PMA) is a recently described brain tumor. PMA shares similar features with pilocytic astrocytoma (PA), the most common central nervous system (CNS) tumor in the pediatric population, yet displays subtle histologic differences.

Unraveling the signaling mechanism behind astrocytoma and possible therapeutics strategies: A comprehensive review

open access: yesCancer Reports, 2023
Background A form of cancer called astrocytoma can develop in the brain or spinal cord and sometimes causes death. A detailed overview of the precise signaling cascade underlying astrocytoma formation has not yet been revealed, although various factors ...

Importance of GFAP isoform‐specific analyses in astrocytoma

open access: yesGlia, 2019
Gliomas are a heterogenous group of malignant primary brain tumors that arise from glia cells or their progenitors and rely on accurate diagnosis for prognosis and treatment strategies. Although recent developments in the molecular biology of glioma have
