Targeting cancer cells that are highly dependent on the nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD+) metabolite is a promising therapeutic strategy. Nicotinamide phosphoribosyltransferase (NAMPT) is the rate-limiting enzyme catalyzing NAD+ production ...

Asymmetric synthesis via iron acyl complexes
This thesis describes the applications to asymmetric synthesis of the highly diastereoselective carbon-carbon bond forming reactions of α,β-unsaturated acyl ligands bound to the chiral iron auxiliary [(η5-C5H5)Fe(CO)(PPh3)]. Chapter 1 briefly reviews the

Flow chemistry in the multi-step synthesis of natural products
The total synthesis of natural products is constantly facing many challenges derived from the complexed chemical structures, the lengthy synthetic routes, the time-consuming workup procedures and the large environmental footprint. In the past two decades,

Asymmetric synthesis of (−)-codonopsinine
Abstract The asymmetric synthesis of (−)-codonopsinine was achieved in 7 steps (from commercially available tert-butyl crotonate) in 5% overall yield and >99:1 dr. The key step in this synthesis involved ring-closing iodoamination of a functionalised homoallylic amine, which occurred with concomitant N-debenzylation, to give a 3-iodopyrrolidine that ...

Concise asymmetric synthesis of (−)-bilobalide [PDF]
The Ginkgo biloba metabolite bilobalide is widely ingested by humans but its effect on the mammalian central nervous system is not fully understood1-4. Antagonism of γ-aminobutyric acid A receptors (GABAARs) by bilobalide has been linked to the rescue of cognitive deficits in mouse models of Down syndrome5.

Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Asymmetric synthesis of enantioenriched spirocycles via a chiral Brønsted acid catalyzed desymmetrization [PDF]
Asymmetric methodologies are very important as they allow chemists to produce significant quantities of complex chiral molecules as enantiopure or enantioenriched compounds.

Asymmetric Total Synthesis of Rollicosin. [PDF]
[structure: see text] The first total synthesis of rollicosin, a member of a rare subgroup of Annonaceous acetogenins containing two terminal gamma-lactones, is reported. The approach features a highly regio- and stereoselective tandem ring-closing/cross-metathesis reaction for construction of the east-wing lactone and incorporation of the alkyl spacer.
