Interferon-gamma inducible protein 10 (IP10) induced cisplatin resistance of HCC after liver transplantation through ER stress signaling pathway. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Tumor recurrence remains an obstacle after liver surgery, especially in living donor liver transplantation (LDLT) for patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).

Proteostasis and ageing: insights from long-lived mutant mice [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The global increase in life expectancy is creating significant medical, social and economic challenges to current and future generations. Consequently, there is a need to identify the fundamental mechanisms underlying the ageing process.

ID1 confers cancer cell chemoresistance through STAT3/ATF6-mediated induction of autophagy

open access: yesCell Death and Disease, 2020
Chemoresistance is one of the major reasons leading to ovarian cancer high mortality and poor survival. Studies have shown that the alteration of cellular autophagy is associated with cancer cell chemoresistance. Here, we investigated whether the ovarian

Regulation of microRNA expression in the heart by the ATF6 branch of the ER stress response [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Molecular and Cellular Cardiology, 2012
A nodal regulator of endoplasmic reticulum stress is the transcription factor, ATF6, which is activated by ischemia and protects the heart from ischemic damage, in vivo. To explore mechanisms of ATF6-mediated protection in the heart, a whole-genome microRNA (miRNA) array analysis of RNA from the hearts of ATF6 transgenic (TG) mice was performed.

scRiskCell: A single‐cell framework for quantifying islet risk cells and their adaptive dynamics in type 2 diabetes

open access: yesiMeta, EarlyView.
scRiskCell is an interpretable intelligent computational framework that leverages nearly 500,000 islet cell expression profiles from 106 donors across different continuous disease states. By calculating the intrinsic relationship between donor disease states and cell expression profiles, it assigns a pseudo‐cell state index to each cell.

Interplay between endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress and autophagy induces mutant p53H273 degradation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
The unfolded protein response (UPR) is an adaptive response to intrinsic and external stressors, and it is mainly activated by the accumulation of misfolded proteins at the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) lumen producing ER stress.

A Focus on Natural Autophagy Modulators as Potential Host‐Directed Weapons Against Emerging and Re‐Emerging Viruses

open access: yesMedicinal Research Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Autophagy is a highly conserved intracellular process involved in maintaining homeostasis and in the degradation of damaged organelles and external pathogens. Nature provides complex and varied reservoirs of scaffolds and chemical entities that may have a pivotal role in the search for new therapeutic leads.

ATF6 aggravates acinar cell apoptosis and injury by regulating p53/AIFM2 transcription in Severe Acute Pancreatitis

open access: yesTheranostics, 2020
Background: There is no curative therapy for severe acute pancreatitis (SAP) due to poor understanding of its molecular mechanisms. Endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress is involved in SAP and increased expression of ATF6 has been detected in SAP patients ...

Ischemia Activates the ATF6 Branch of the Endoplasmic Reticulum Stress Response [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Biological Chemistry, 2009
Stresses that perturb the folding of nascent endoplasmic reticulum (ER) proteins activate the ER stress response. Upon ER stress, ER-associated ATF6 is cleaved; the resulting active cytosolic fragment of ATF6 translocates to the nucleus, binds to ER stress response elements (ERSEs), and induces genes, including the ER-targeted chaperone, GRP78.
