Correlation between ABCB1 gene polymorphisms, antiepileptic drug concentrations and treatment response

open access: yesRomanian Journal of Laboratory Medicine, 2018
Aim: A possible molecular mechanism of clinically defined multidrug-resistant epilepsy involves drug efflux transporters such as P glycoprotein (P-gp), a member of the ATP-binding cassette subfamily B1 (ABCB1).

Identification of a novel ß-adrenergic octopamine receptor-like gene (ßAOR-like) and increased ATP-binding cassette B10 (ABCB10) expression in a Rhipicephalus microplus cell line derived from acaricide-resistant ticks [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Background: The cattle tick Rhipicephalus (Boophilus) microplus is an economically important parasite of livestock. Effective control of ticks using acaricides is threatened by the emergence of resistance to many existing compounds. Several continuous R.

Simvastatin overcomes the pPCK1‐pLDHA‐SPRINGlac axis‐mediated ferroptosis and chemo‐immunotherapy resistance in AKT‐hyperactivated intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma

open access: yesCancer Communications, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC) is a challenging cancer with an increasing incidence. The Phase III TOPAZ‐1/KEYNOTE‐966 study demonstrated chemo‐immunotherapy (CIT) as a significant advancement, potentially replacing traditional chemotherapy for advanced biliary tract cancer.

Neutronics Analysis of the ITER In-Vessel Viewing System [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2013
The In-Vessel Viewing System (IVVS) in ITER consists of six identical units which are deployed between pulses or during shutdown, to perform visual examination and metrology of plasma facing components. The system is housed in dedicated ports at B1 level, with deployment at the level between the divertor cassettes and the lowermost outboard blanket ...

RNAseq reveals hydrophobins that are involved in the adaptation of aspergillus nidulans to lignocellulose [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Background Sugarcane is one of the world’s most profitable crops. Waste steam-exploded sugarcane bagasse (SEB) is a cheap, abundant, and renewable lignocellulosic feedstock for the next-generation biofuels.

Epigenetic Changes Related to Hypertension in Asian Adults: A Systematic Review

open access: yesChronic Diseases and Translational Medicine, EarlyView.
PRISMA study flow diagram. ABSTRACT Background Elevated high blood pressure is controlled by complicated, little‐understood genetic and epigenetic pathways that are influenced by both heritable and environmental variables. Many adult systolic and diastolic blood pressure‐related genomic loci have been identified through previous genome‐wide association

Construction and commissioning of a technological prototype of a high-granularity semi-digital hadronic calorimeter [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2015
A large prototype of 1.3m3 was designed and built as a demonstrator of the semi-digital hadronic calorimeter (SDHCAL) concept proposed for the future ILC experiments. The prototype is a sampling hadronic calorimeter of 48 units. Each unit is built of an active layer made of 1m2 Glass Resistive Plate Chamber(GRPC) detector placed inside a cassette whose

ABC transporters and azole susceptibility in laboratory strains of the wheat pathogen Mycosphearella graminicola [PDF]

open access: yes
Laboratory strains of Mycosphaerella graminicola with decreased susceptibilities to the azole antifungal agent cyproconazole showed a multidrug resistance phenotype by exhibiting cross-resistance to an unrelated chemical, cycloheximide or rhodamine 6G ...

The role of epithelial-to-mesenchymal plasticity in ovarian cancer progression and therapy resistance [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Ovarian cancer is the most lethal of all gynecologic malignancies and the eighth leading cause of cancer-related deaths among women worldwide. The main reasons for this poor prognosis are late diagnosis; when the disease is already in an advanced stage ...

Controlling Lampenflora in Heritage Sites: In Situ Testing of Polyoxometalate–Ionic Liquids in the Pommery Champagne Cellar

open access: yesChemPlusChem, EarlyView.
The article evaluates polyoxometalate–ionic liquids (POM–ILs) as biocidal agents against lampenflora in the UNESCO‐listed Pommery Champagne cellar. POM–ILs effectively inhibit microbial colonization over one year with minimal visual impact and outperform the commercial biocide Preventol RI80.
