We have mapped the domains of lipid-free apoA-I that promote cAMP-dependent and cAMP-independent cholesterol and phospholipid efflux. The cAMP-dependent lipid efflux in J774 mouse macrophages was decreased by ∼80–92% by apoA-I[Δ(185–243)], only by 15% by

Redox control of multidrug resistance and Its possible modulation by antioxidants [PDF]
Clinical efficacy of anticancer chemotherapies is dramatically hampered by multidrug resistance (MDR) dependent on inherited traits, acquired defence against toxins, and adaptive mechanisms mounting in tumours.

Impaired anti‐tumor immunity is mediated by TREM2 + macrophages in non‐small cell lung cancer. TREM2 + macrophages prevent anti‐tumor immunity depending on the limitation of CD4 + T and NK cells. TREM2 promotes cholesterol efflux via ABCA1 to limit the production of CX3CL1 in macrophages.

Transcriptional regulation of ATP-binding cassette transporter A1 expression by a novel signaling pathway. [PDF]
ATP-binding cassette transporter A1 (ABCA1) is a membrane-bound protein that regulates the efflux of cholesterol derived from internalized lipoproteins. Using a mouse macrophage cell line, this report studied the impact of low-density lipoproteins (LDL) on ABCA1 expression and the signaling pathway responsible for lipoprotein-induced ABCA1 expression ...

A Chemical Genetic Approach To The Study Of Cellular Transport [PDF]
The focus of this thesis is the use of chemical genetics to study two different aspects of membrane biology, (a) the mechanisms underlying cellular lipid transport and (b) the intersection between endocytic and exocytic traffic.

Biology of Cholangiocytes: From Bench to Bedside [PDF]
Cholangiocytes, the lining epithelial cells in bile ducts, are an important subset of liver cells. They are activated by endogenous and exogenous stimuli and are involved in the modification of bile volume and composition.

NAD⁺ homeostasis maintains neuronal integrity through opposing actions of NMNAT2 and SARM1. Loss of NMNAT2 in glutamatergic neurons reprograms cortical metabolism from glucose to lipid catabolism, depletes lipid stores, and triggers inflammation and neurodegeneration.

Intestinal cholesterol absorption is substantially reduced in mice deficient in both ABCA1 and ACAT2
The process of cholesterol absorption has yet to be completely defined at the molecular level. Because of its ability to esterify cholesterol for packaging into nascent chylomicrons, ACAT2 plays an important role in cholesterol absorption.
