Autonomous Sea Surface Vehicles

2016
Capitalizing on the experience and technology developments gained with underwater autonomous vehicles, the current research frontier in the field of autonomous marine vehicles has moved from under water to the sea surface, i. e., autonomous sea surface vehicles. Current and future perspectives of these types of autonomous vehicles are given in Sect. 13.

Spilled Oil Autonomous Tracking Using Autonomous Sea Surface Vehicle

Marine Technology Society Journal, 2015
Abstract Over the past several decades, a concerted scientific effort has been made to estimate the drift and spread of spilled oil on the ocean surface. However, tracking spilled oil in open water remains challenging. This research focuses on the problem of autonomous oil spill tracking in oceanic marine environments.

Interaction between autonomous vehicles and road surface

International Journal of Vehicle Autonomous Systems, 2003
Today's studies in Vehicle Dynamics are becoming increasingly isolated from one another. They relate to different systems of a vehicle and do not demonstrate an interconnection between these systems. For example, mechatronic systems to control the circumferential wheel forces of vehicles can be divided into two groups: systems of the first group act ...

Sea demining with autonomous marine surface vehicles

2010 IEEE Safety Security and Rescue Robotics, 2010
A sea demining method using autonomous marine surface vehicles (AMSV) is introduced. The method involves the development of copies of these vehicles, and the procedures for area scanning and coverage. The demining is made by field influence, towing a submerged “fish”. This study is made with both simulations and scale experiments.

Design of an autonomous surface vehicle (ASV)

Proceedings of OCEANS'94, 2002
Although work in ROV (remotely operated vehicles) and AUV (autonomous underwater vehicles) has already led to the development of many vehicles, no surface robots have been designed. The Port of Bordeaux Authority in collaboration with the University of Bordeaux has undertaken the development of such an autonomous surface vehicle.

A Small Energy Harvesting Autonomous Surface Vehicle

OCEANS 2018 MTS/IEEE Charleston, 2018
We present a small Autonomous Surface Vehicle (ASV) with several novel design considerations. Our design takes advantage of the small scale of this category of ASV to implement a complete power, control, and communication system on a single printed circuit board (PCB) that is also used as the primary structural element. Energy harvesting and propulsion
