Transport Companies, Truck Drivers, and the Notion of Semi-Autonomous Trucks

Proceedings of the 9th International Conference on Automotive User Interfaces and Interactive Vehicular Applications Adjunct, 2017
Semi-autonomous driving is considered a particularly promising approach for truck drivers, as this special driver group spends almost their entire working time in a moving vehicle. Semi-autonomous driving could add to increased driving safety and relief of the truck driver.

Optical Truck Tracking for Autonomous Platooning

2015
Platooning applications require precise knowledge about position and orientation pose of the leading vehicle. We present an optical solution for a robust pose estimation using artificial markers and a camera as the only sensor. Temporal coherence of image sequences is used in a Kalman filter to obtain precise estimates.

Eco-friendly lane reservation-based autonomous truck transportation network design

International Journal of Production Research
As one of the primary sources of carbon emissions, transportation sector has proposed various measures to reduce its carbon emissions. Introducing energy-efficient and low-carbon autonomous trucks into freight transportation is highly promising, but ...

Anti-Jackknife Autonomous Truck Trailer for Path Following Control Using Genetic Algorithm

International Conference on Agents, 2021
Controlling the autonomous truck system has a very high difficulty because the two parts of the truck are rigid (Head and Trailer) and the possibility of a jackknife effect occurring is high.

Sigmoid Function Optimization for Path Following Control with Obstacle Avoidance of an Autonomous Truck-trailer

International Conference on Agents, 2021
In this study, an obstacle avoidance maneuver with sigmoid function optimization is applied on the path following control of the Autonomous truck-trailer. The accumulation of trailers and traffic density become obstacles in the lanes traversed by trailer

Berm Detection for Autonomous truck in Surface Mine Dump Area

International Conference on Intelligent Transportation Systems, 2021
To ensure an autonomous truck can operate safely in a dump area, it is crucial to detect a berm accurately in advance. However, there are two challenges. First, the berm is not a static terrain but a movable one because of soil dumping. Second, berms are

Systems Integration, Simulation, and Control for Autonomous Trucking

2020 IEEE Intelligent Vehicles Symposium (IV), 2020
This paper discusses a platform both in simulation and experimentation for testing autonomous heavy trucking. In simulation, we present a novel use of the video game American Truck Simulator (ATS) as the simulation platform, only costing a fraction of commercial simulator software. In experimentation, we present a modified ProStar 122+ using the PACMod

An Autonomic System for Intelligent Truck Parking

Proceedings of the 11th International Conference on Informatics in Control, Automation and Robotics, 2014
Traffic and road transport conditions are strongly influenced by the decisions of drivers. The more information they receive, the better decisions may be taken about their behavior. This is especially important in the transport of goods, since drivers are subject to traffic laws about maximum driving time and minimum time rest.

Module Used in Robotaxi and Autonomous Truck Applications

2020 IEEE 70th Electronic Components and Technology Conference (ECTC), 2020
This paper describes methodologies on how to enhance solder joint reliability in electronic automotive modules to meet harsh field environments. The reliability enhancement of a QFN component has been investigated and results are presented. The first step is to optimize the PCBpad including dividing center pad areas underneath the package.
