The roles of AXIN2 in tumorigenesis and epigenetic regulation

Familial Cancer, 2014
AXIN2, an important regulator in Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway, takes part in regulating cell proliferation, cytometaplasia, migration, apoptosis and other important functions, has showed close relations with the development of liver cancer, colon cancer, lung cancer, breast cancer and so on.

Axin2 expression identifies progenitor cells in the murine prostate [PDF]

open access: yesProstate, 2008
AbstractBACKGROUNDWe previously reported that prostatic stem/progenitor cells are concentrated in the proximal region of prostatic ducts and express stem cell antigen 1 (Sca‐1). As Wnt signaling is important for the maintenance of stem cells, we determined whether Sca‐1 expressing cells also express Axin2, as Axin2 expression is highly suggestive of ...

Axin2-lineage cells contribute to neonatal tendon regeneration

Connective Tissue Research, 2022
Tendon injuries are a challenging clinical problem with few treatment options. Identifying the molecular regulators of tendon is required for the development of new therapies. While the Wnt pathway is critical for the maintenance and differentiation of many tissues, the role of Wnt signaling in tendon cell biology remains largely unexplored. The effects

AXIN2, Tooth Agenesis, and Colorectal Cancer

2008
Abstract Mutations in the human AXIN2 gene cause dominantly inherited tooth agenesis with severe but variable phenotype. At the same time, they predispose to colorectal cancer. The role of AXIN2 as a regulator of Wnt (wingless)-signaling is in line with the well-established role of deregulated β-catenin activity in promoting colon cancer.

A novel AXIN2 gene mutation in sagittal synostosis

American Journal of Medical Genetics Part A, 2018
The bones of the skull are held together by fibrous joints called sutures. Premature fusion of these sutures leads to a pathologic condition called as craniosynostosis. Although at least 50 nuclear genes including FGFR2, TWIST1, TCF12, and SMAD6 were identified as causative of craniosynostosis; only 25% of the patients can be genetically diagnosed ...

RvE1 Promotes Axin2+ Cell Regeneration and Reduces Bacterial Invasion

Journal of Dental Research, 2023
Vital pulp therapy and root canal therapy (RCT) are the dominant treatment for irreversible pulpitis. While the success rate of these procedures is favorable, they have some limitations. For instance, RCT leads to removing significant dentin in the coronal third of the tooth that increases root-fracture risk, which forces tooth ...

Loss of Axin2 leads to Myxomatous Valve Disease

The FASEB Journal, 2016
In the older population, myxomatous valve disease (MVD) is the second most common heart valve disease and the leading cause of mitral regurgitation. Myxomatous valves display thickened leaflets with glycosaminoglycan (GAG) accumulation and increased chondrogenic markers, such as Sox9 and aggrecan.

AXIN2 Polymorphisms and Their Association with Colorectal Cancer in Mexican Patients

Genetic Testing and Molecular Biomarkers, 2016
Aim: The aim of this study was to investigate the association of the rs2240308 and rs1133683 polymorphisms in the AXIN2 gene with colorectal cancer (CRC) in Mexican patients.

AXIN2 polymorphism and its association with prostate cancer in a Turkish population

Medical Oncology, 2010
Polymorphism of AXIN2, a component of Wnt signaling, has been shown to play a role in tumorigenesis and dysregulated in cancer cells. In order to find out if AXIN2 polymorphism is a risk factor for prostate cancer, we analyzed eight polymorphic regions of this gene in 84 patients with prostate cancer and compared the results with 100 healthy controls ...
