Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

The Earth's figure axis determined from the polar motion data [PDF]
The polar motion data is analyzed to obtain accurate position of the figure axis referred to the Earth-fixed frame. The variation of the figure axis should be the basic object to which the geophysical events are linked.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Impact of Rotation on the Retarded Interaction between a Permanent Dipole Particle and a Polarizable Surface [PDF]
We have calculated components of torque and the interaction energy of small rotating particle with a permanent dipole moment in the case where the rotation axis is perpendicular to the surface and the dipole axis is inclined to it.

THE AXIS OF ASTIGMATISM. [PDF]
Twelve years ago 1 I presented some views on the axis of astigmatism. Those views consisted partly of propositions to be verified or denied by experience, partly of facts as developed in my practice. I set forth the initial proposition that the axis of astigmatism does not occur at haphazard, that there is a regularity in its occurrence in a given eye,

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.
