A Leishmania protein that modulates interleukin (IL)‐12, IL‐10 and tumor necrosis factor‐α production and expression of B7‐1 in human monocyte‐derived antigen‐presenting cells

European Journal of Immunology, 1997
AbstractLeIF, a gene homologue of the eukaryotic initiation factor 4A was first described as a leishmanial antigen that induced a Th1‐type T cell response in peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) from leishmaniasis patients. Moreover, the interferon (IFN)‐γ production by PBMC was found to be interleukin (IL)‐12 dependent.

Purification of antigenic peptide from murine hepatoma cells recognized by Class-I major histocompatibility complex molecule-restricted cytotoxic T-lymphocytes induced with B7-1-gene-transfected hepatoma cells

Journal of Hepatology, 1999
It has been reported that expression of costimulatory molecules, such as B7, on tumors is essential for priming tumor-specific cytotoxic T-lymphocytes (CTLs). Here, we have attempted to induce murine hepatoma-specific CTLs by immunizing with the B7-1-gene-expressing hepatoma cells, and to identify the epitope(s) presented on the hepatoma cells. The B7-1-

Studies Using Antigen-Presenting Cells Lacking Expression of Both B7-1 (CD80) and B7-2 (CD86) Show Distinct Requirements for B7 Molecules During Priming Versus Restimulation of Th2 But Not Th1 Cytokine Production

The Journal of Immunology, 1998
Abstract The differentiation of CD4+ T cells into a Th1 vs Th2 phenotype profoundly influences the outcome of autoimmune and infectious diseases. B7 costimulation has been shown to affect the production of both Th1 and Th2 cytokines, depending on the system studied.

B7-2 expression on tumor cells is important for the acquisition of cytotoxic T lymphocyte activity by spleen cells from low-dose-melphalan-treated MOPC-315 tumor bearers via a mechanism that requires either B7-1 or B7-2 expression on host antigen-presenting cells

Cancer Immunology, Immunotherapy, 2000
We have previously shown that B7-2 (CD86) and, to a lesser extent, B7-1 (CD80) contribute to the curative effectiveness of low-dose melphalan (L-phenylalanine mustard) for mice bearing a large MOPC-315 tumor under conditions that lead to the acquisition of potent cytotoxic T lymphocyte (CTL) activity at the tumor site. Since B7-1 and B7-2 are expressed

Dual expression of human leukocyte antigen molecules and the B7-1 costimulatory molecule (CD80) on human melanoma cells after particle-mediated gene transfer.

Cancer gene therapy, 1996
The aim of this study was to determine if human melanoma cells could be molecularly modified by particle-mediated gene transfer with a "gene gun", using genes for interferon-gamma (IFN-gamma), the B7-1 costimulatory molecule (CD80), and human leukocyte antigen (HLA)-A2, to augment expression of both HLA molecules and B7-1. Established and early passage
