La dénitrification chez Bacillus licheniformis

open access: yesCanadian Journal of Microbiology, 1978
The denitrifying capacity of 15 strains of Bacillus licheniformis was evaluated. In general, N2 production by the cultures on complex media containing NO3− is irregular and quite slow and three of the strains never produce gas. Bacillus licheniformis grows rapidly in anaerobiosis on peptone medium containing NO3− which is reduced to NO2−.

Exploring the Roles of Tuna‐Associated Acinetobacter sp. YFT067: Implications for Host Health and Metabolism

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, EarlyView.
This study firstly isolated a tuna‐derived gut probiotic Acinetobacter seifertii YFT067. Dietary administration of YFT067 played significant roles in promoting growth performance, SCFAs production, lipid absorption, and metabolism of the host, indicating YFT067 as a promising probiotic candidate for enhancing tuna aquaculture productivity through ...

Proton and cadmium adsorption by the archaeon Thermococcus zilligii: Generalising the contrast between thermophiles and mesophiles as sorbents [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Adsorption by microorganisms can play a significant role in the fate and transport of metals in natural systems. Surface complexation models (SCMs) have been applied extensively to describe metal adsorption by mesophilic bacteria, and several recent ...

Native Bacillus licheniformis Protease

open access: yes, 2023
A protease is an enzyme that helps proteolysis: protein catabolism by hydrolysis of peptide bonds. The native Bacillus licheniformis protease belongs to the serine endopeptidase subtilisin family, which breaks the peptide bond non-specifically under alkaline conditions.

Release of Penicillinase by Bacillus licheniformis [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of General Microbiology, 1967
SUMMARY: Organisms (logarithmic growth phase) of Bacillus licheniformis strain 749/C when washed and resuspended in buffer ceased to produce penicillinase but continued to release their cell-bound enzyme as typical exopenicillinase. In the first 1-2 hr, 15-30% of the bound enzyme was liberated; the process then became very slow.

Heat Stress and Gut Microbiome Dynamics in Poultry: Interplay, Consequences, and Mitigation Strategies

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, EarlyView.
Heat stress disrupts gut microbial balance in poultry, impairing nutrient absorption and immunity. This review outlines the interplay between thermal stress and microbiome dynamics and discusses integrative mitigation strategies, probiotics, phytogenics, cooling systems, and genetic adaptation to enhance poultry resilience.

Bacillus subtilis and Bacillus licheniformis reduce faecal protein catabolites concentration and odour in dogs

open access: yesBMC Veterinary Research, 2020
Background Direct-fed microbials (DFM), such as Bacillus subtilis and Bacillus licheniformis, may improve gut functionality of the host by favouring non-pathogenic bacteria and reducing the formation of putrefactive compounds.

Biofilm formation by B. licheniformis isolated from whey protein concentrate 80 powder as a potential source of product contamination : a thesis presented in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Food Technology at Massey University, Palmerston North, New Zealand [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
This study aimed to examine biofilm formation of Bacillus licheniformis isolated from whey protein concentrate 80 (WPC80) as a potential source of contamination in the manufacture of WPC.

Bacterial Pigments as Potential Antitumor Agents Against Gastrointestinal Cancers: A Comprehensive Systematic Review

open access: yesBiotechnology and Applied Biochemistry, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Gastrointestinal cancers (GICs) constitute one of the leading causes of cancer‐related morbidity and mortality worldwide. Despite currently available therapeutic strategies, new approaches and procedures are needed for their prevention and treatment.
