Effect of land use change on Melolonthidae (Coleoptera: Scarabaeoidea) beetle communities in the deforestation arc of the Brazilian Amazon

open access: yesInsect Conservation and Diversity, Volume 19, Issue 2, Page 404-419, March 2026.
Habitat transformation in Amazon due to agriculture expansion impairs Melolonthidae diversity. Assemblage response towards habitat transformation are group‐dependent. Although highly disturbed, Amazon arc of deforestation region dwells sensitive insect assemblages. Abstract Although the Amazon provides crucial goods and ecosystem services for humanity,

Integrated Multidimensional Evaluation of Postharvest Quality and Physiopathologies in Seasonal Tropical Fruits: Linking Physicochemical, Sensorial, and Economic Loss Parameters

open access: yesInternational Journal of Agronomy, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Tropical regions exhibit remarkable environmental variability, resulting in high biodiversity and numerous fruit species with considerable nutritional and commercial potential. Despite this richness, many tropical fruits remain underexplored, particularly regarding their postharvest quality, phytosanitary status, and consumer perception.

Influence of Optimized Microwave Treatment on the Nutritional Parameters and Bioactive Compounds of Tucumã (Astrocaryum aculeatum) Nectar

open access: yesJournal of Food Processing and Preservation, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
The tucumã‐do‐Amazonas (Astrocaryum aculeatum) is a fruit that is native to the Amazon region and known for its high content of β‐carotene, phenolic compounds, and unsaturated fatty acids, making it a promising candidate for the development of functional products. However, conventional thermal methods can degrade heat‐sensitive compounds.

Complementary geophysical, geomorphometric and pedological approaches for characterizing shallow and deep subsurface materials in a colluvial‐alluvial plain in Atlantic rainforest

open access: yesEarth Surface Processes and Landforms, Volume 50, Issue 15, December 2025.
This study combines GPR, 2D ERT and UAV‐derived terrain models to characterize sediment variability in a colluvial‐alluvial plain. GPR identified sandy lenses and clay‐rich layers, while ERT revealed deeper conductive and resistive zones, including a gneissic basement.

Diversity and Activity Patterns of Medium‐Sized and Large Terrestrial Mammals in Agroforests of a Peruvian Amazon Rainforest Region

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 15, Issue 8, August 2025.
We studied species richness and activity patterns of medium‐sized and large terrestrial mammals in agroforests located in the northern buffer zone of Tambopata National Reserve, Peru. The agroforests harboured a high number of mammal species, with species richness increasing alongside greater structural complexity of vegetation.
