Peach palm growth and heart-of-palm yield responses to liming Respostas de crescimento e produção de palmito da pupunheira à calagem

open access: yesRevista Brasileira de Ciência do Solo, 2004
The effects of liming rates on growth and heart-of-palm yield of peach palm plants (Bactris gasipaes Kunth) were studied in a two-year field experiment conducted in Pariquera-Açu, State of Sao Paulo, Brazil.

VIABILIDADE DE SEMENTES DE PUPUNHA (BACTRIS GASIPAES KUNTH) [PDF]

open access: yesActa Amazonica, 1992

Diet composition of the Red‐billed curassow (Crax blumenbachii) and its role as seed disperser in the Atlantic Forest: conservation insights

open access: yesRestoration Ecology, Volume 34, Issue 5, July 2026.
Abstract Introduction Forest fragmentation and defaunation are major drivers of biodiversity loss in the Atlantic Forest of Brazil, where 70–90% of tree species depend on animal‐mediated seed dispersal. Reintroduction of large frugivores, such as cracids, is being used to restore species populations and lost ecological functions.

Useful palms (Arecaceae) near Iquitos, Peruvian Amazon

open access: yesRevista Peruana de Biología, 2014
This paper describes the uses of 64 species of palms in 28 villages in Departamento de Loreto, Peru. There, the palms are of great use as food (Bactris gasipaes, Mauritia flexuosa, Euterpe precatoria, Oenocarpus bataua), for fiber production ...

Nitrato de amônio e nitrato de potássio no desenvolvimento in vitro de embriões somáticos de pupunheiras Ammonium nitrate and potassium nitrate on in vitro peach palm somatic embryos development

Patterns of Tree Species Abundance and Diversity on Urban Sidewalks in Macapá, Amapá, Brazil

open access: yesEcological Research, Volume 41, Issue 2, March 2026.
This study presents the first systematic inventory of street trees in Macapá, Northeastern Brazilian Amazon. Results reveal a dominance of exotic and fruit‐bearing species, low tree density, and a replacement of large canopy trees by smaller ones, indicating potential losses in ecosystem services and the need for more biodiversity‐focused afforestation

Fotossíntese, condutância estomática e transpiração em pupunheira sob deficiência hídrica Photosynthesis, stomatal conductance and transpiration in peach palm under water stress

open access: yesScientia Agricola, 2002

Effects of Fruiting Neighborhood, Plant Traits, and Fruit Traits on Frugivore Visitation and Fruit Removal for an Understory Palm

open access: yesBiotropica, Volume 58, Issue 2, March 2026.
We simultaneously evaluated how the fruiting neighborhood, defined as the number of fruiting palms in a 35 m radius, and relevant traits at the level of individual plants (e.g., height, crop size) and fruits (e.g., fruit and seed size, water, and sucrose content) influenced frugivore visitation and the number of fruits removed per visit in a common ...
