Familial and Somatic BAP1 Mutations Inactivate ASXL1/2-Mediated Allosteric Regulation of BAP1 Deubiquitinase by Targeting Multiple Independent Domains

open access: yes, 2018
Deleterious mutations of the ubiquitin carboxy-terminal hydrolase BAP1 found in cancers are predicted to encode inactive truncated proteins, suggesting that loss of enzyme function is a primary tumorigenic mechanism. However, many tumors exhibit missense

BAP1 loss predicts longer survival for mesothelioma patients treated with pemetrexed-based chemotherapy

open access: yes, 2020
BRCA1-associated protein 1 (BAP1) immunohistochemistry (IHC) was assessed as a predictive biomarker for pemetrexed-based treatment in non-surgically treated malignant pleural mesothelioma (MM) patients.IHC was performed on 168 MM patient slides to assess

First Report of BAP1 ‐Associated Polyposis

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Medical Genetics Part A
ABSTRACT BAP1 Tumor Predisposition Syndrome ( BAP1 ‐TPDS) is caused by germline pathogenic variants in the BAP1 gene and has been associated with uveal melanoma, mesothelioma, cutaneous melanoma, renal cell ...

Regulation of Med1 protein by overexpression of BAP1 in breast cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular & Cellular Oncology
Med1 binds to a nuclear receptor and regulates transcription. Elevated Med1 protein expression promotes cancer growth in hormone-dependent breast and prostate cancers.

Unraveling the Prognostic Significance of BRCA1-Associated Protein 1 (BAP1) Expression in Advanced and Castrate-Resistant Prostate Cancer

open access: yesBiology
Prostate cancer (PCa) is ranked as one of the top cancers affecting men in Western societies. BRCA1-associated protein 1 (BAP1) expression significance has been observed in various cancers, including prostate cancer.

CDK6/4 inactivates BAP1 deubiquitinase destabilizing VHL to promote metastatic colonization in liver

open access: yesMolecular Cancer
Background Single organ metastasis to liver typically occurs in uveal melanoma (UM) and colorectal carcinoma (CRC). Colonization in the host organ is a beachhead step of the metastasis process.

BAP1 geenin UCH-domeinin missense-mutaatioiden entsymaattinen aktiivisuus

open access: yes, 2022
Patogeeniset variantit BAP1 (BRCA-associated protein 1) geenissä aiheuttavat BAP1-kasvainalttiusoireyhtymää. Patogeenisen variantin takia kantajalla on suurentunut riski saada syöpä, kuten suonikalvoston melanoomaa (uvealmelanooma, UM).

An overview of BAP1 biological functions and current therapeutics

open access: yesBiochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Reviews on Cancer
BRCA1-associated protein 1 (BAP1) is a tumor suppressor gene that was first identified in 1998. Germline loss-of-function variants in BAP1 are associated with a tumor predisposition syndrome with at least four cancers: uveal melanoma (UM), malignant mesothelioma (MMe), renal cell carcinoma (RCC), and cutaneous melanoma (CM).
