The Induction of Apoptosis by Resveratrol Through Regulatory Effect of miR-21 on the Gene Expression of Bcl2 and Bax in HCT-116 Cells [PDF]
Background: Resveratrol (RezV) which is found in several plants including grapes and types of berries has a vital role in inducing apoptosis and suppressing cell proliferation.

Production of translationally cold barium monohalide ions [PDF]
We have produced sympathetically cooled barium monohalide ions BaX$^+$ (X = F, Cl, Br) by reacting trapped, laser cooled Ba$^+$ ions with room temperature gas phase neutral halogen-containing molecules. Reaction rates for two of these (SF$_6$ and CH$_3$Cl) have been measured and are in agreement with classical models.

Increased sensitivity of African American triple negative breast cancer cells to nitric oxide-induced mitochondria-mediated apoptosis. [PDF]
BackgroundBreast cancer is a complex heterogeneous disease where many distinct subtypes are found. Younger African American (AA) women often present themselves with aggressive form of breast cancer with unique biology which is very difficult to treat ...

Targeting BCL-2 regulated apoptosis in cancer [PDF]
The ability of a cell to undergo mitochondrial apoptosis is governed by pro- and anti-apoptotic members of the BCL-2 protein family. The equilibrium of pro- versus anti-apoptotic BCL-2 proteins ensures appropriate regulation of programmed cell death ...

Scholars of Arnold Bax have long acknowledged the influence of the Irish Literary Revival on the composer’s compositional output up to about 1920, of Sibelius from the late 1920s onwards, and of the continuity of styles between these two periods. In this article I argue that this continuity relies on what Bax draws from early Yeats, which is less ...

Bax mitochondrial residency is more critical than Bax oligomerization for apoptosis [PDF]
AbstractThe Bax protein plays an important effector role in apoptosis by forming pores in the mitochondrial outer membrane. While doing so, Bax forms higher-order oligomers in the membrane, but it remains unclear whether this oligomer formation is essential for pore formation. Using cell-free and cellular experimental systems, we investigated two Bax C-

Emerging Therapeutic Strategies for Hearing Loss
Challenges still exist in treating hearing loss in cases of severe damage to hair cells or spiral ganglion neurons. Here, a schematic diagram of cochlear sensory hair cells and auditory nerves is presented. It is found that in normal Corti organs, hair cells have upright stereocilia at the top and auditory neurons at the base. Ototoxic drugs, noise, or

Injectable pH responsive conductive hydrogel for intelligent delivery of metformin and exosomes to alleviate myocardial ischemia‐reperfusion injury. The hydrogel responds to the weakly acidic microenvironment of ischemic injury and can significantly reduce the production of intracellular ROS and enhance cardiac conduction, thereby resisting apoptosis ...
