Bacille Calmette-Guérin Vaccine Strain Modulates the Ontogeny of Both Mycobacterial-Specific and Heterologous T Cell Immunity to Vaccination in Infants
Frontiers in Immunology, 2019 Differences in Bacille Calmette-Guérin (BCG) immunogenicity and efficacy have been reported, but various strains of BCG are administered worldwide. Since BCG immunization may also provide protection against off-target antigens, we sought to identify the ...Agano Kiravu, Sophia Osawe, Anna-Ursula Happel, Trishana Nundalall, Jerome Wendoh, Sophie Beer, Nobomi Dontsa, Olatogni Berenice Alinde, Sikiratu Mohammed, Pam Datong, D. Advanced Science, EarlyView. An autologous whole‐tumor‐cell vaccine (rWTC‐MBTA) is evaluated in murine CNS lymphoma. Subcutaneous vaccination activates dendritic cells, broadens T‐cell priming, and drives lymphocyte trafficking to brain tumors, producing durable tumor control. Longitudinal bioluminescence and adoptive‐transfer assays verify CNS engagement. International Journal of Cancer, EarlyView. While several oncogenic pathogens cause site‐specific cancers, uncertainties remain about many other chronic infections and combined pathogen effects, especially in non‐Western populations. Using a large case–cohort study nested within the China Kadoorie Biobank, the authors found that co‐infection was common, with a mean of 10 pathogens per individual.Ling Yang, Jonathan Clarke, Lea Kröller, Christiana Kartsonaki, Hannah Fry, Rima Jeske, Andrew Gordon, Sarah Clark, Michael Hill, Daniel Avery, Yiping Chen, Huaidong Du, Jun Lv, Dianjianyi Sun, Canqing Yu, Liming Li, Iona Y.
