Formalin‐fixed paraffin‐embedded (FFPE) samples help to investigate transcriptomic responses in wildlife disease

open access: yesMolecular Ecology Resources, Volume 25, Issue 5, July 2025.
Abstract Infectious diseases impact numerous organisms. Knowledge of host‐pathogen interactions and host responses to infection is crucial for conservation and management. Obtaining this knowledge quickly is made increasingly possible by a variety of genomic approaches, yet, for many species the bottleneck to understanding this, remains access to ...

Dual Targeting of Pim and PI3 Kinases in Mature T‐Cell Lymphoma

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Haematology, Volume 115, Issue 1, Page 82-95, July 2025.
ABSTRACT Provirus Integration site for Moloney leukemia virus (Pim) family members are well‐known oncogenes, with an expression that is restricted to few cell types including hematopoietic cells in adult organisms, making it a promising target for lymphoma treatment.

MicroRNA‐100‐5p Exacerbates Myocardial Ischemia–Reperfusion Injury Through Downregulation of PRMT5

open access: yesThe FASEB Journal, Volume 39, Issue 11, 15 June 2025.
MiR‐100‐5p overexpression downregulates PRMT5, leading to increased PTEN activity and reduced AKT signaling. This molecular cascade promotes cardiomyocyte apoptosis, enhances fibrotic remodeling, and exacerbates cardiac dysfunction following myocardial ischemia–reperfusion injury.

Etoposide‐induced cancer cell death: roles of mitochondrial VDAC1 and calpain, and resistance mechanisms

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, Volume 19, Issue 6, Page 1855-1875, June 2025.
The complex mode of action of the topoisomerase II inhibitor etoposide in triggering apoptosis involves several mechanisms: overexpression of the mitochondrial protein VDAC1, leading to its oligomerization and formation of a large channel that mediates the release of pro‐apoptotic protein; and overexpression of the apoptosis regulators p53, Bax, and ...
