Reciprocal t(9;22) ABL/BCR fusion proteins: leukemogenic potential and effects on B cell commitment. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2009
BACKGROUND:t(9;22) is a balanced translocation, and the chromosome 22 breakpoints (Philadelphia chromosome--Ph+) determine formation of different fusion genes that are associated with either Ph+ acute lymphatic leukemia (Ph+ ALL) or chronic myeloid ...

Identification and Characterization of Post-activated B Cells in Systemic Autoimmune Diseases [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Autoimmune diseases (AID) such as systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), primary Sjögren's syndrome (pSS), and rheumatoid arthritis (RA) are chronic inflammatory diseases in which abnormalities of B cell function play a central role.

Transmission of ultrafine particles through separating systems of dust samplers

open access: yesJournal of Sustainable Mining, 2018
In underground mines there is a radiation hazard associated with natural radioactive nuclides. The main sources of radiation exposure in Polish mines are short-lived radon decay products, radioactive mine water containing radium and the sediments ...

BCR ubiquitination controls BCR-mediated antigen processing and presentation

open access: yesBlood, 2006
AbstractBCR-mediated antigen processing occurs at immunologically relevant antigen concentrations and hinges on the trafficking of antigen-BCR (Ag-BCR) complexes to class II–containing multivesicular bodies (MVBs) termed MIICs. However, the molecular mechanism underlying the trafficking of Ag-BCR complexes to and within MIICs is not well understood. In

BCR-ABL affects STAT5A and STAT5B differentially. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2014
Signal transducers and activators of transcription (STATs) are latent cytoplasmic transcription factors linking extracellular signals to target gene transcription. Hematopoietic cells express two highly conserved STAT5-isoforms (STAT5A/STAT5B), and STAT5

TLR induces reorganization of the IgM-BCR complex regulating murine B-1 cell responses to infections. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
In mice, neonatally-developing, self-reactive B-1 cells generate steady levels of natural antibodies throughout life. B-1 cells can, however, also rapidly respond to infections with increased local antibody production. The mechanisms regulating these two

Inhibition of interleukin-1 signaling enhances elimination of tyrosine kinase inhibitor treated CML stem cells [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Treatment of chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML) with BCR-ABL tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKI) fails to eliminate leukemia stem cells (LSC). Patients remain at risk for relapse, and additional approaches to deplete CML LSC are needed to enhance the ...

The newfound relationship between extrachromosomal DNAs and excised signal circles

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) contribute to the progression of many human cancers. In addition, circular DNA by‐products of V(D)J recombination, excised signal circles (ESCs), have roles in cancer progression but have largely been overlooked. In this Review, we explore the roles of ecDNAs and ESCs in cancer development, and highlight why these ...

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

Expression of BCR/ABL p210 from a Knockin Allele Enhances Bone Marrow Engraftment without Inducing Neoplasia

open access: yesCell Reports, 2013
Chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) and some acute lymphoblastic leukemias are characterized by the t(9;22) chromosome, which encodes the BCR/ABL oncogene. Multiple mouse models of CML express BCR/ABL at high levels from non-Bcr promoters, resulting in the ...
