The lighter side of BDNF

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Physiology-Regulatory, Integrative and Comparative Physiology, 2011
Brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) mediates energy metabolism and feeding behavior. As a neurotrophin, BDNF promotes neuronal differentiation, survival during early development, adult neurogenesis, and neural plasticity; thus, there is the potential that BDNF could modify circuits important to eating behavior and energy expenditure.

BDNF reverses aging-related microglial activation

open access: yesJournal of Neuroinflammation, 2020
Background Excessive microglial activation is implicated in the pathogenesis of various age-related neurodegenerative diseases. In addition to neurons, brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) and its receptor TrkB are also expressed in microglia ...

The effect of exercise training on the circulating levels of BDNF in patients with multiple sclerosis: a systematic review with meta-analysis [PDF]

open access: yesمجله علوم پزشکی فیض (پیوسته), 2023
Background: Brain-derived neurogenic factor (BDNF) plays an effective role in improving neurological processes, therefore it is a therapeutic target for patients with multiple sclerosis (MS). This meta-analysis aimed to investigate the effect of exercise

Expression of Neurotrophins and Their Receptors Tropomyosin-related kinases (Trk) under Tension-stress during Distraction Osteogenesis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
The localization and expression of neurotrophins and their receptors during distraction osteogenesis was investigated in 72 male rat femurs (11 weeks old) to further clarify the concurrence of cellular and molecular events of new bone formation.
