Organocatalytic Synthesis of Benzimidazole Derivatives

Synthesis, 2022
AbstractA synthetic route for the production of chiral derivatives of benzimidazole is presented. Different commercially available amines are evaluated as organocatalysts for the stereoselective aldol addition of N1-benzimidazolyl acetaldehyde, previously prepared by N-alkylation of benzimidazole, with cyclic ketones.

The structures of benzimidazole derivatives and their potential as tuberculostatics

Acta Crystallographica Section C Structural Chemistry, 2018
Tuberculosis still remains a very important problem, especially its multidrug resistant varieties (MDR-TB). Among the potential tuberculostatics, there are two benzimidazole derivatives, namely 5,6-dimethyl-2-phenylethylbenzo[d]imidazole (1) and (E)-5,6-dimethyl-2-styryl-1H-benzo[d]imidazole (2) which showed significant tuberculostatic activities ...

New Derivatives of Benzimidazole and Their Antimicrobial Activity

Journal of Chemotherapy, 1999
Azolium salts and neutral 2-aryl derivatives of benzimidazole, benzothiazole and benzoxazole were synthesized and compounds were identified by 1H and 13C NMR spectroscopy and microanalytical methods. In this work the salts 1 and the neutral compounds 2 were evaluated for their in vitro antimicrobial activity against standard strains: Enterococcus ...

Antiaggregant Activity of a New Benzimidazole Derivative [PDF]

open access: possibleBulletin of Experimental Biology and Medicine, 2014
Antiaggregant activity of a new tricyclic benzimidazole derivative, RU-891 compound, was studied on the model of ADP-induced platelet aggregation in vitro and intravascular platelet aggregation in vivo. We evaluated the effect of this substance on blood coagulation potential. Antiaggregant agent acetylsalicylic acid was used as the reference drug.

Benzimidazole Derivatives as Potential Anticancer Agents

Mini-Reviews in Medicinal Chemistry, 2013
Benzimidazole ring system is found in many bioactive heterocyclic compounds because of their diverse biological and clinical applications. Furthermore, benzimidazole derivatives are structural isosters of naturally occurring nucleotides, thus they can interact with biological macromolecules such as proteins, enzymes and receptors. This review discusses

Photophysical processes of some benzimidazole derivatives

Spectrochimica Acta Part A: Molecular and Biomolecular Spectroscopy, 2005
The photophysical properties of N-(alpha-naphthyl)-benzimidazole (alpha-NABI), N-(beta-naphthyl)-benzimidazole (beta-NABI) and N-(alpha-pyridyl)-benzimidazole (alpha-PYBI) were studied and alpha-NYBI exhibit intramolecular charge transfer fluorescence in polar solvents. The fluorescence of benzimidazoles can be quenched by acetic acid and the existence

Cytotoxic and antimicrobial potential of benzimidazole derivatives

Archiv der Pharmazie, 2021
AbstractNew benzimidazole derivatives were synthesized and their structures were characterized by spectroscopic and microanalysis techniques. The cytotoxic properties of ten benzimidazole derivatives, five of which were synthesized in our previous studies, were determined against the lung cancer cell line, A549, and the healthy lung epithelial cell ...

Interaction of anthelmintic benzimidazoles and benzimidazole derivatives with bovine brain tubulin

Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - General Subjects, 1978
The binding and inhibitory properties of 11 benzimidazoles for bovine brain tubulin were investigated. The effects of the benzimidazoles on the initial rates of microtubule polymerization were determined by a turbidimetric assay. The median inhibitory concentrations (I50) for nocodazole, oxibendazole, parbendazole, mebendazole and fenbendazole ranged ...
