Optimization of a method for preparing solid complexes of essential clove oil with beta-cyclodextrins [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Essential CO was successfully solubilized in aqueous solution by forming inclusion complexes with beta-cyclodextrins (beta-CDs). Moreover, phase solubility studies demonstrated that essential CO also forms insoluble complexes with beta-CDs.

Use of cyclodextrins for manipulating cellular cholesterol content

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1997
Previous studies from this laboratory have demonstrated that exposure of tissue culture cells to cyclodextrins results in rapid cholesterol depletion.

Changes in the anti-inflammatory activity of soy isoflavonoid genistein versus genistein incorporated in two types of cyclodextrin derivatives

open access: yesChemistry Central Journal, 2012
Background The isoflavonoid genistein represents the major active compound from soybean, the vegetal product from Glycine max (Fabaceae). The aim of this study is to prove that genistein was incorporated in two semisynthetic cyclodextrins, beta ...

The preparation, characterization, and pharmacokinetic studies of chitosan nanoparticles loaded with paclitaxel/dimethyl-β-cyclodextrin inclusion complexes. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
A novel biocompatible and biodegradable drug-delivery nanoparticle (NP) has been developed to minimize the severe side effects of the poorly water-soluble anticancer drug paclitaxel (PTX) for clinical use.

A click chemistry route to 2-functionalised PEGylated and cationic beta-cyclodextrins: co-formulation opportunities for siRNA delivery [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
A new approach to the synthesis of amphiphilic beta-cyclodextrins has used 'click' chemistry to selectively modify the secondary 2-hydroxyl group. The resulting extended polar groups can be either polycationic or neutral PEGylated groups and these two ...

Absorption, Distribution and Excretion of .BETA.-Cyclodextrin and Glucosyl-.BETA.-cyclodextrin in Rats.

open access: yesBiological and Pharmaceutical Bulletin, 1996
The absorption, distribution and excretion of intravenously and orally administered beta-cyclodextrin (beta-CD) and glucosyl (G)-beta-CD in rats were studied using HPLC with pulsed amperometric detection. Within 10 h after intravenous administration, unchanged beta-CD and G-beta-CD recovered in urine were about 90% of each dose.

Cholesterol, a cell size-dependent signal that regulates glucose metabolism and gene expression in adipocytes. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
Enlarged fat cells exhibit modified metabolic capacities, which could be involved in the metabolic complications of obesity at the whole body level. We show here that sterol regulatory element-binding protein 2 (SREBP-2) and its target genes are induced ...

Inclusion complexes of citronella oil with ß-Cyclodextrin for controlled release in biofunctional textiles [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Biofunctional textiles with integrated drug-delivery systems can help in the fight against vector-borne diseases. The use of repellent agents derived from plants and oils is an alternative to DEET (N,N-diethyl-m-methylbenzamide), which has disadvantages ...

Screening of Cyclodextrins in the Processing of Buserelin Dry Powders for Inhalation Prepared by Spray Freeze-Drying [PDF]

open access: yesAdvanced Pharmaceutical Bulletin, 2023
Purpose: In this study, we prepared inhalable buserelin microparticles using the spray freeze-drying (SFD) method for pulmonary drug delivery. Raffinose as a cryoprotectant carrier was combined with two levels of five different cyclodextrins (CDs) and ...
