Diversity of marine bacteria producing beta-glucosidase inhibitors [PDF]

open access: yesMicrobial Cell Factories, 2013
Beta-glucosidase inhibitors are being extensively studied for use as anti-diabetics, anti-obesity and anti-tumour compounds. So far, these compounds have been reported in large numbers from plants, mushrooms, algae and fungi. There are very few reports of such inhibitors from bacteria in the open literature, particularly marine bacteria; although the ...

Production, purification and characterization of novel beta glucosidase from newly isolated Penicillium simplicissimum H-11 in submerged fermentation

open access: greenEXCLI Journal : Experimental and Clinical Sciences, 2013
β-Glucosidase is an important component of the cellulase complex. It not only hydrolyzes cellobiose and short-chain cellooligosaccharides to glucose, but also removes the inhibitory effect of cellobiose on the β-1, 4-endoglucanase and exoglucanase ...

Control of beta-glucosidase synthesis in Mucor racemosus [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Bacteriology, 1977
The beta-glucosidase of Mucor racemosus was shown to be synthesized when the organism was grown in the presence of such diverse carbon sources as glycerol, lactate, xylose, ribose, alpha-methylglucoside, alpha-phenylglucoside, maltose, and cellobiose. Enzyme synthesis was strongly repressed in the presence of hexoses.

Reference values for lysosomal enzymes activities using dried blood spots samples - a Brazilian experience [PDF]

open access: yesDiagnostic Pathology, 2010
Background Lysosomal storage diseases (LSD) are inherited disorders caused by deficiency of lysosomal enzymes in which early diagnosis is essential to provide timely treatment. This study reports interval values for the activity of lysosomal enzymes that
