Lithium Diisopropylamide‐Mediated Ring‐Opening of Tetrahydrofuran in the Synthesis of Polyhydroxylated Indolizidines

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Organic Chemistry, EarlyView.
Chiral tri‐ and pentahydroxy spirocyclopentane‐indolizidines were synthesized using lithium diisopropylamide “LDA” promoted diallylation and tetrahydrofuran “THF” ring‐opening in a one‐pot procedure as a key step. The sequence leading to the targeted hydroxy‐spiroindolizidines was achieved by cis‐dihydroxylation followed by reduction of the enamine and

Características biológicas do solo indicadoras de qualidade após dois anos de aplicação de biossólido industrial e cultivo de milho Biological characteristics indicators of soil quality after two years of application of an industrial biosolid and corn cultivation

Starch biotransformation into isomaltooligosaccharides using thermostable alpha-glucosidase from Geobacillus stearothermophilus [PDF]

open access: yesPeerJ, 2018
The present study first identified the biotransformation of starch as a novel preparation method was investigated using the alpha-transglucosidase-producing Geobacillus stearothermophilus U2. Subsequently, 5 L- and 20 L-scale fermentations were performed.

Precision therapies for genetic epilepsies in 2025: Promises and pitfalls

open access: yesEpilepsia Open, EarlyView.
Abstract By targeting the underlying etiology, precision therapies offer an exciting paradigm shift to improve the stagnant outcomes of drug‐resistant epilepsies, including developmental and epileptic encephalopathies. Unlike conventional antiseizure medications (ASMs) which only treat the symptoms (seizures) but have no effect on the underlying ...

Inhibition of Dictyostelium discoideum beta-glucosidase by purines [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Bacteriology, 1977
beta-Glucosidase of Dictyostelium discoideum is inhibited by purines in the following order: adenine greater than adenosine greater than 6-methylaminopurine greater than hypoxanthine greater than inosine greater than purine greater than guanosine. Adenine inhibits activity by 50% at 1 to 2 mM.

Functional Bread From Bambara Groundnut and Orange Peel Attenuates Hyperglycemia and Oxidative Stress in a High‐Fat Diet/Streptozotocin‐Induced Type 2 Diabetes Rat Model

open access: yesFood Chemistry International, EarlyView.
This study evaluated Bambara groundnut–wheat composite bread fortified with orange peel in diabetic rats. Diets significantly lowered blood glucose, inhibited α‐glucosidase and α‐amylase, and boosted antioxidant enzymes compared to controls. Results emphasize BG‐based functional foods' potential to help manage type 2 diabetes through regulation of ...

RETRACTED: Genetic modification: A tool for enhancing beta-glucosidase production for biofuel application

open access: yes
Beta-glucosidase (BGL) is a rate-limiting enzyme for cellulose hydrolysis as it acts in the final step of lignocellulosic biomass conversion to convert cellobiose into glucose, the final end product.

Nutraceutical Evaluation of Biscuits Formulated From Acha, Chia, and Soycake Flours on Glycemic Control, Lipid Profile, and Histopathological Effects in High‐Fat Diet/Streptozotocin‐Induced Type 2 Diabetic Rats

open access: yesFood Chemistry International, EarlyView.
Acha–chia–soycake biscuits improved glucose tolerance, lipid profile, insulin levels, and pancreatic integrity in HFD–STZ diabetic rats. ACSB1 and ACSB13 outperformed acarbose, showing potent antihyperglycemic, hypolipidemic, and pancreatic‐protective effects.

A New Vista of Opportunity in Diabetes Management: Natural Product‐Based β‐cell Preservation

open access: yesFood Chemistry International, EarlyView.
Preserving functional β‐cells via natural products offers promising strategy for diabetes treatment. ABSTRACT A defining characteristic of diabetes is β‐cell failure, in which β‐cells cannot modulate insulin secretion to compensate for escalating insulin resistance, pushing forward disease development.
