Bacteremia in Pediatric Solid Organ Transplant Recipients within 1 Year of Transplant

open access: yesTransplant Infectious Disease, EarlyView.
We retrospectively reviewed bloodstream infections (BSI) in pediatric recipients of solid organ transplants over a 14‐year period. Overall BSI rates were significant but decreased over time. Risk factors for BSI were identified which may help identify interventions which further decrease rates.

The Challenge of Bacterial Infections During Intensive Care Unit Stay After Heart Transplantation

open access: yesTransplant Infectious Disease, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Infections occurring in the early post–heart transplant (HT) period heavily contribute to morbidity and mortality. Our goal is to evaluate the incidence of hospital‐acquired pneumonia/ventilator‐associated pneumonia (HAP/VAPs) and/or bloodstream infections (BSIs) after HT during the intensive care unit (ICU) stay and identify their ...

Antimicrobial Resistance in Malaysian Shrimp Aquaculture and Strategies to Reduce Its Occurrence

open access: yesReviews in Aquaculture, Volume 17, Issue 3, June 2025.
ABSTRACT Shrimp is a commercially important species in several regions and is among the key global aquaculture commodities essential for food production and security. Similar to most shrimp‐producing countries, shrimp aquaculture in Malaysia suffers from recurring disease outbreaks that consequently impact the overall economy.

Intramolecular epistasis correlates with divergence of specificity in promiscuous and bifunctional NSAR/OSBS enzymes

open access: yesProtein Science, Volume 34, Issue 5, May 2025.
Abstract Understanding the functions and evolution of specificity‐determining residues is essential for improving strategies to predict and design enzyme functions. Whether the function of an amino acid residue is retained during evolution depends on intramolecular epistasis, which occurs when the same residue contributes to different phenotypes in ...

The Study of Escherichia coli as Antimicrobial‐Resistant Sentinel Microorganism Isolated in the Farms of Three Districts of Ankara by MALDI‐TOF MS and Genomic Analysis

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 11, Issue 3, May 2025.
The antibiotic susceptibility of Escherichia coli isolates isolated from faeces and soil samples collected from farms in three districts where livestock farming activities are intensively carried out via phenotypic and genotypic methods and the presence of extended‐spectrum beta‐lactamases (ESBLs) via a double‐disc synergy test. Only one E. coli strain
