Structure-function relationships for the interleukin 2 receptor system

open access: yesMemorias do Instituto Oswaldo Cruz, 1987
Receptors for interleukin 2 (IL-2) esit in at least three forms which differ in their subunit compositio, their affinity for ligand and their ability to mediate a cellular reponse.

Gabor frames for rational functions [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2021
We study the frame properties of the Gabor systems $$\mathfrak{G}(g;\alpha,\beta):=\{e^{2\pi i \beta m x}g(x-\alpha n)\}_{m,n\in\mathbb{Z}}.$$ In particular, we prove that for Herglotz windows $g$ such systems always form a frame for $L^2(\mathbb{R})$ if $\alpha,\beta>0$, $\alpha\beta\leq1$.

Results on neutrinoless double beta decay from GERDA Phase I [PDF]

open access: yesMod. Phys. Lett. A, Vol. 29, No. 1 (2014) 1430001, 2013
The GERmanium Detector Array, GERDA, is designed to search for neutrinoless double beta (0$\nu\beta\beta$) decay of $^{76}$Ge and it is installed in the Laboratori Nazionali del Gran Sasso (LNGS) of INFN, Italy. In this review, the detection principle and detector setup of GERDA are described.

OsVTC1-1 RNAi Mutant with Reduction of Ascorbic Acid Synthesis Alters Cell Wall Sugar Composition and Cell Wall-Associated Proteins

open access: yesAgronomy, 2022
Ascorbic acid (AsA) or Vitamin C is an antioxidant molecule and plays an important role in many biological processes in plants. GDP-D-mannose pyrophosphorylase (GMP or VTC1) catalyzes the synthesis of GDP-D-mannose, which is a precursor for AsA ...

On the possibility to search for double beta decay of initially unstable (alpha/beta radioactive) nuclei [PDF]

open access: yesEurophys.Lett. 69 (2005) 41-47, 2004
Possibilities to search for double beta decay of alpha/beta unstable nuclei, many of which have higher energy release than "conventional" (beta stable) double beta decay candidates, are discussed. First experimental half-life limits on double beta decay of radioactive nuclides from U and Th families (trace contaminants of the CaWO_4, CdWO_4 and ...

The fifth domain of beta 2-glycoprotein I contains a phospholipid binding site (Cys281-Cys288) and a region recognized by anticardiolipin antibodies. [PDF]

open access: bronzeJournal of Immunology, 1994
We have identified a phospholipid binding site in the fifth domain of beta 2-glycoprotein I (beta 2-GPI). Using synthetic peptides spanning the fifth domain of beta 2-GPI, we have shown that the presence of the sequence Glu274-Cys288 caused a decrease in

Differences in Endothelial Activation and Dysfunction Induced by Antiphospholipid Antibodies Among Groups of Patients With Thrombotic, Refractory, and Non-refractory Antiphospholipid Syndrome

open access: yesFrontiers in Physiology, 2021
Antiphospholipid syndrome (APS) is an autoimmune disorder characterized by pregnancy morbidity or thrombosis and persistent antiphospholipid antibodies (aPL) that bind to the endothelium and induce endothelial activation, which is evidenced by the ...

Characterization of isoelectric subspecies of asialo-β2-glycoprotein I [PDF]

open access: yesBiochemical Journal, 1989
Isoelectric focusing of purified beta 2-glycoprotein I (beta 2-G-I) revealed five major bands with isoelectric points (pI) between 5.1 and 6.1. Neuraminidase treatment decreased the number of bands to two (pI 8.0 and 8.2). The two asialo subfractions of beta 2-G-I were purified by cation-exchange column chromatography.

IgG antibodies that recognize epitope Gly40-Arg43 in domain I of beta 2-glycoprotein I cause LAC, and their presence correlates strongly with thrombosis.

open access: yesBlood, 2005
Anti-beta(2)-glycoprotein I antibodies are known to have a heterogeneous reactivity against beta(2)-glycoprotein I. We performed this study to characterize the epitope on beta(2)-glycoprotein I to which pathologic anti-beta(2)-glycoprotein I antibodies ...

Antiphospholipid Syndrome and Kidney Involvement: New Insights

open access: yesAntibodies, 2016
Antiphospholipid syndrome is an autoimmune disorder characterized by vascular thromboses and pregnancy morbidity associated with antiphospholipid antibodies: lupus anticoagulant, IgG or IgM anticardiolipin or anti-beta 2-glycoprotein I. The kidney is one
